Subject: BS: The Sun, a new Dawn!! (UK) From: Bassic Date: 26 Oct 04 - 12:55 PM I have it on good authority that The Sun Inn in Beverley is to re-open this week!! The new tenant is called Shaun and he seems keen to keep the character of the place intact and has already booked Keith to re-start his Sunday Acoustic sessions which is a hopeful sign! Expect a cautious start re cask ales and live bands but lets give Shaun lots of support and get The Sun back to its prominent position as Session capital of East Yorks eh! (PS.....I am looking forward to that nice fire being lit for the winter ;-). Best estimate is for the reopening to be Thursday evening this week. G |

(UK) From: Blowzabella Date: 26 Oct 04 - 03:43 PM Good news Bassic - I've never been and I probably never will, in all truthfulness but, I hate to hear of a good pub closing - especially one with real ale, real fires and real music (see my 'If I had a pub entry!) |

Subject: RE: BS: The Sun, a new Dawn!! (UK) From: Noreen Date: 02 Nov 04 - 05:31 PM I dropped into the Sun on Sunday, waiting for the session to start at Nellies, to hand over a very well-travelled bass guitar... Landlord seems very friendly, I asked about music getting going there again and he sounded very positive. Can't get us all playing round the fire again until he's had the gas board in to check it, though! Was nice to be back :0) |

Subject: RE: BS: The Sun, a new Dawn!! (UK) From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 03 Nov 04 - 09:45 AM I called in at the Sun over the weekend and Shaun had on several decent real ales such as Yorkshire Terrier, Taylor's Landlord, Deuchar's IPA and a couple of others. He seems keen enough but will be operating under the dead hand of the pubco as have the last few landlords - £2.15 a pint!! As far as music goes he seems to want to settle in for a few weeks first before committing to any sessions. At Nellies last night we had a long discussion about moving back to the Sun. Broad opinion seems to be that the room at the Sun is better but people are a bit wary of moving back and then finding that it all folds again (see comment about pubco above). For the moment we are staying put on a Tuesday but there may be other moves to put in a more general session on another day(suggestions have been made of a rolling Sunday session between Monks, Sun and Nellies on different Sundays) Roger |
