Varese Sarabande is issuing a 26 track CD May 2nd - An Introduction to John Stewart. Apparently a career retrospective. Here's the tracks:

The first 12 songs are John's "California Bloodlines" album from 1969. The other 14 are his "Willard" album from 1970.

Wow, this sho nuff brings back some memories...

I've got almost all this on old LP's but, hey... I might buy it...

"Mother Country" is one of the of the best songs eber written...

And I've done "Belly Full of Tennessee" as many times as John has...

Yeah, I might buy it even though I have ost of it anyway...

All except the last two tracks have been available on a Bear Family CD since 1989: John Stewart 'California Bloodlines/Willard minus 2' Bear Family BCD 15468. It is curious that Bear Family did not include the last 2 tracks of 'Willard', particularly since the CD time was approximately 74 minutes. Maybe that was the limit of a CD back then - I can't remember.

Gee, Amazon has the CD titled Turning Music Into Gold: The Best of John Stewart for sale for only $109.99.

But you'll find that the song is titled simply "Gold," and it's available for download at Amazon for 99 cents. Gee, and there's even a karaoke version.

I guess that's John Stewart singing "Gold" in this YouTube Video. Gee, he looks young.
