I just wrote a little something to keep this thread alive, and I see that the awards have been issued. So this one's just for fun...

Tune: Kentucky Woman, by Neil Diamond

Kentucky River

Kentucky River
It shines with its own kind of light
You look at it once
And you see it's on fire, yes that's right
Full of whiskey
Yes full of whiskey

Kentucky River
I want to be there
I want to smell the air
Kentucky River

Well the bourbon's the kind
Makes heads turn at the drop of its name
Yes Wild Turkey flows free
And the river flows on, full of flame
Full of whiskey
Yes full of whiskey

Kentucky River
Flowing through Lawrenceburg
Past the distillery
Kentucky River

I don't want much
A barrel of whiskey beneath my feet
A gentle touch
On my lips and tongue,
And life is sweet and good
Ain't no doubt
I'm talkin' about

Kentucky River
I want to be there
Whiskey in the air
Kentucky River

Aine , chosen challengers, thread readers, retrievers,
and countless deceivers.
Unaccustomed to public threading, as I am I would just like to type a few words of thanks, but first, I am reminded of a little anecdote I once heard.......Mumble
..........Mumble..........Mumble......Bla, bla, bla.....
mumble.....mumble (he does go on dosen't he?)......bla, bla, BLA!. Ha Ha Ha ha! Which just goes to show you should always keep the bottle on the top shelf.
Thank you all I loves ya's,
I hope the speech wasn't too long but I felt the time was right.
Been good fun, everyone.
Thanks again,
Spider Tom

A parody on "Where Streams Of Whiskey Are Flowing" from the first Pogues' album "Red Roses For Me". The verses are my own, but the chorus is unaltered from MacGowan's original.

The word was passed around through every bar and gin-joint
The fire crew have been called to Warehouse Number Ten
Grab every jar and glass, every mug, jug and container
Our prayers have been answered, the whiskey's flowing like rain

CHORUS I am going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing
Iam going, Iam going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing

The streets of Lawrenceburg were filled to overflowing
With all the human wreckage Kentucky calls its own
Armed to the back teeth with jerry cans and barrels
Every receptacle the world has ever known

CHORUS

The run off from the fire was heading to the river
To bottle up the flow was we alcos' only aim
We lost a few that night, I hoped that they died peaceful
Floating off to heaven on the golden whiskey stream

CHORUS

Whiskey and Water (Smoke on the Water)

We all went down to the river
And waded at the shoreline
To get us some Wild Turkey
The river flowed like wine

In a Lawrenceburg Warehouse
20,000 barrels of booze
And when the fire started
We had no time to lose

Whiskey and Water
All the winos cried
Whiskey and Water
Fire made us dry

And now its in the water supply
They're telling us not to drink
You at least we all gotta try it
No matter what they think

Whiskey and Water
We're filling up our sink
Whiskey and Water
So we can have a drink
