From: GUEST,Rose, "The Record Lady" Date: 04 Sep 01 - 10:18 PM Nope...never been to Chicago...haven't you read my bio on my website?...guess not, or you'd know I was from Maine and now living in Texas...never had a record shop... http://members/spree.com/entertainment/recordlady/main.htm click on "About The Record Lady" |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Sep 01 - 11:05 PM It was Rose records. Big company. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Bill D Date: 04 Sep 01 - 11:31 PM bad typists leave out stuff...*grin*...I meant maybe that's where the poster THOUGHT he'd been....never dreamed it was connected with you, Rose...(but I did drop a couple hundred $$$ in Rose Records in about 1974...lots of records...and maybe big enough to house your collection!) |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: GUEST,Rose, "The Recrod Lady" Date: 05 Sep 01 - 12:55 AM You haven't seen my collection....country music is just a small part of it, and as I said in an earlier note, the country music that's on my site right now is not even the "tip of the iceberg" of what I am capable of providing.... |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Banjer Date: 05 Sep 01 - 04:54 AM Bill, in an earlier post you said you were downloading a lot from the site to help archive it. Are you getting just the music? Is anybody saving the text? I guess what I'm asking is: Should space become available AFTER the 20th of September, is there a complete archive that could be uploaded(proper term ?) to the new site? Rose please advise....Thanks |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: GUEST,Rose, "The Record Lady" Date: 05 Sep 01 - 08:47 AM Yes, of course I have all of my pages saved...I also have all of the music files...It will be simple to upload the pages of text to another site...but uploading all those songs is gonna take a very long time since I have a very slow dial-up connection. |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: MMario Date: 05 Sep 01 - 09:11 AM this site is also going to go down. *sigh* |

Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Sep 01 - 11:15 AM I've just been reading along gang......I wish I had better ideas and I'd of course love to see something pan out with Max.....Got my fingers crossed. Rose, I too am very grateful for the effort you have put in and the great stuff on your site. I visit a good bit and there are just damn few places anymore to hear Lulu Belle and Scotty and many others. Many thanks. Banj old friend, I'm glad you brought this here and believe me, if I come up with anything, I'll be happy to post it. Right now I guess I'm just part of the "Rose the Record Lady" Cheering Section.......... Spaw |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: wysiwyg Date: 08 Sep 01 - 04:25 PM Good news, Rose, and "Rose the Record Lady" Cheering Section. I thought I would just post it here so we can all be on the same page. I think you all kow how busy Max has been, 'nuff said, eh? But the imnplication is that he ain't gonna read evey word in this thread, maybe. So anyway, I have been discussing the bare bones of what would be required, with Max, and he is willing to try putting Rose's site up, if possible at no charge. (Note words TRY and IF POSSIBLE.) This is not only good news for the present situation, but it has possible broader application-- it would, I think, be a way of testing the concept that other sites could be under a Mudcat umbrella in some way. And there are a million ways to do THAT, technically as well as graphically. So Rose, you need to e-mail Max to see what can happen. If you want, we can discuss here a little longer first, to see what kind of placement you would be willing to have. And Rose the Record Lady" Cheering Section, here is another thought for your musings, and a way you can REALLY HELP. I also got permission from Max to try offering sponsorships to folk radio stations, on a test basis, for placement of a logo and link on the Mudcat Radio page. (Note word TRY, TEST BASIS.) So.... I know we have had at least two threads on folk radio. And I need your help-- I need to know your personal recommendation on what stations are BIG, are FOLKIE ENOUGH in overall format, and already LOVE MUDCAT if at all possible! Meantime I will be cruising all the links already posted in those two thread, to see if I can spot a station really net-aggressive and therefore possibly interested in such a program. Neither of these two efforts that Max is willing to explore are big state secrets, but let's be smart how we talk about them beyond this thread. We don't want to start any avalanches, OK? This is SMALL STUFF right now compared to everything else Mudcat and Max are dealing with. OK? ~Susan

Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Bill D Date: 08 Sep 01 - 05:05 PM yup...got it. And maybe a 'folk consortium' isn't such a bad idea, if the technical stuff can be worked out.... |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Banjer Date: 21 Sep 01 - 08:57 PM I just checked on the site and it is still there!!! This is the 21st..... |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Bill D Date: 21 Sep 01 - 09:48 PM well..maybe they are being loose due to the recent events....and maybe it takes awhile to clear everything out. |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Banjer Date: 22 Sep 01 - 05:24 AM Or maybe they came to their senses and realized what atreasure they had there!! Nah, probably not...... |
Subject: RE: We're losing a good site! From: Jon Freeman Date: 22 Sep 01 - 07:14 AM Banjer, a treasure to them would be something bringing in lots of dollars for them... Jon |
