so one who will be there but not on the program is Kieran Halpin who is on holiday in Oz & has been playing the occasional gig on his travels.

He played at the Dog last week to the biggest audience we've had for a while & is appearing in the Illawarra at a house concert this weekend.

fooey, maybe you can spend the Easter weekend playing good music to be with us in spirit!

anyway, you could start saving coins for your next visit. I saw this Really Useful Thing in a $2 shop today - it was a series of 3 or 4 tall tubes for $1 coins with value marked on the sides, tho you'd probably need quite a few of them to save up the value of a trip for 2 to Canberra.

Was it only last year? Seems like ages ago. To all the song-session friends I made at the National last year, to Margaret who got me there (and to Katoomba!) and to Sandra and the other Mudcatters, to John and the Roaring Forties - love and best wishes for a great festival. Wish I could be there.

I shall content myself with the small but perfecly formed Easter Maritime Festival at Glasson Dock, halfway between Fleetwood and Lancaster.

I assume you were at george's first concert, if so did you get the obligatory Mudcat pic with George & Cloudstreet? George sang the rosella jam song last night! & we ended the evening while posing for the Sydney mudcatter pic while kind folks put the chairs away. It was a great concert, the room filled with folks singing the choruses they knew, tho we were a bit hesitant with the new choruses.

Well, as I remember George singing of being woken by the song of rosellas (... in the Brindabellas ...), I'm a bit worried about what you put in your rosella jam. (I do remember some passing tourist, in the Buderim Ginger Shop - decades back - worrying that the jam was made from those pretty 'parrots'!)

OK Sandra isn't nagging ... but I guess that I should get off a jpeg of the best of the "Mudcatter Group" snaps from Saturday night's perfomance by George Papavgeris at The Loaded Dog last Saturday ... Then I need to make a point of storing up some of that sleep stuff ... before the National Folk Festival starts next week.

The Rosella Jam song... well I noticed that George and I have similar interests - I fell down a hole a few weeks ago and injured MY left knee too.... :-) Don't tell me that I made a mistake? well get him some jam anyway.... he IS a jammy bugger... :-P

BTW, I noticed that he started off his concert here with his 'Dylan Style' song.... :-P

Next year is only a plan at this stage... I need to work out about where to stay, and costs, etc.. maybe for 2...

Well I will be camping with Black Joak Morris again in the same place as last year - on the opposite side of the oval from the session bar - not far past the Mallee. Freda and I will get there Thursday afternoon or evening, but our tents are probably already up as of today - thanks to Duncan.

Should be a lot of fun and games. There is to be a reprise of the 'belly-off' - the competition between the Morris men and the belly dancers, only this time it has a storyline with a script. I've seen parts of it.

Ken, who always manages to come up with amazing songs for chorus cups has been working on it with John, and tomorrow there will be more plotting for my folk club's entry in the Chorus Cup at the National. Those of us who are involved in that will also have to meet up there at various times in the first couple of days to add our input to the work in progress.

In previous years some Mudcatters have tried to meet up in the session bar on Thursday night, and there has been a loose sort of arrangement that those of us who are free around 1pm will meet in the session bar - I try to get some lunch and take it in there around that time. We could do that again this year.

Bugsy, sorry to hear that you and Mrs Bugsy can't make it this time. I really enjoyed your company last year. And who will sing the Fishfinger Song?

I haven't heard George do his Rosella song yet. I'm having dinner with him and Vanessa tonight at Spaghetti Junction, so maybe I'll ask him to.

We have the Stock Camp here and plenty of very good authentic billy tea and damper, so a little Rosella jam would go down very nicely - as long as we manage to get all the feathers out first ;-)

Charley, rosellas aren't yet endangered; there are tourist traps where you can get eleventy million of them sitting on you wanting a feed.

Youse buggers are missing out on a great festival. We did the hymn singing proud, even though the atheists outnumbered the believers.
