Jacey,

What a wonderful way to support Mick.

All the acts were superb, and contributed their talents gratis resulting in a collection over £700.

Pete Coe is organising another with a different line up, including Graham & Eileen Pratt at the Royal Hotel, Rishworth, Yorkshire on Tuesday 10th July.

Not only that, but Sue also won a pair of tickets in the raffle to see Pauline Cato & Tom McConnville @ Slaithewaite, Huddersfield next Thursday.

Many thanks for holding our tickets until we arrived!

Bob & Sue vG

Hi.

I saw Mick on Wednesday (13/6/01)

He is in the Stroke rehabilitation ward at The Llwynypia Hospital now, which is much better for him as he can get more personal attention perhaps.

He is looking well and was in his wheelchair when I was there. He is still struggling with his speech and I sensed his frustration at his inability at times, to express himself. But apparently, he has been told that it will take 17 weeks before he will show any substantial improvement. However Mick is in good spirits. I passed on the good wishes from many of his friends and fellow folk artistes.

At Alcester
Martin Curtis (on tour from NZ) called in to see Mick 19/20th and from what he was saying there appears to be some progress in Mick's condition.

There is a benefit evening for Mick at the Royal Hotel, Rishworth on Tuesday 10th July. It will feature Graham and Eileen Pratt, Pete Coe and a cast of thousands! To get to the Royal Hotel- leave the M62 at Junction 22 and head towards Halifax on the moor road. You will pass a couple of other pubs (and loads of sheep) before you come into Rishworth. The Royal is on the left, not far after the sign for Rishworth New Road. It looks like being a good evening. See you there! Sue vG

A cast of thousands of sheep, Sue? :0)

Sounds good. Was very impressed with Pete Coe in Chorley last weekend, playing, singing and dancing ...all at the same time....!

I've just heard from Danny KilBride that a weekend benefit is being organised in South Wales for Mick around the 18th of August. The URL he gave me doesn't seem to work, but I'll send info when I get it.

Baggyrinkle, as threatened, went to see Mick and serenade?? him on Wednesday (4th July) It was great to see him wholeheartedly joining in the choruses.

A number of other patients came in and they seem to enjoy the proceedings.

If it as at all possible in the not too distant future, lads might take him for a day out to one of their local gigs not too far from the hospital.

He is looking well and he does seem to improve everytime I see him.

Don't forget the benefit weekend at Miskin on August 17th-18th.

Mick,

Here's hoping you make a speedy recovery :o) I really enjoyed your music at the Maritime Festival in Swansea last year.

Best wishes

Heard last night, Mick can "feel" his left foot.

Just a note to say I saw Mick over the weekend. He is now well settled at LLwynypia and is making steady progress. He is more mobile and can get around by "walking" his wheelchair along. He is also able to express himself more extensively in short phrases and seems in much better heart than when I first saw him in Colchester. Still a way to go though, so please keep him in your thoughts

Mick came to his benefit week-end (just gone), and stayed a few hours but had to be accompanied by official minders (insurance and accountability nonsense). He had a good concert. He seemed in fine sirits but I kept my hellos short as he had a lot of well-wishers. He certainly sang a lot, but conversation is still a bit limiting.
Roll on Miskin.

I'm glad to hear Mick's recovering steadily. It's a long process, and it sounds like he's doing very well. Tim and I heard Calennig earlier this year in North Stonington, and bought two of their CDs. Amazing music.

Does anyone have any recent news? How is Mick doing?

Good News.

Mick telephoned a friend of mine recently - that achievement alone tells you how much he has come on - and he is apparently returning home permanently round about 7 November. He's walking again, with a stick, but still has a lot to do.

Best wishes to him!

Is he likely to be at the Winter Warmer?
