And the whole membership of Mudcat, UK and US, should comply with YOUR wishes because.....?

Don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out!

Goodbye!

Life should not be difficult.
I agree with the thought behind your message Don T. to which I add the following.
If something is there you can choose to look at it, if it is not there, you can not! The latter leaves you with no choice.
Choice is important and is one of the reasons (please correct me if I am wrong) Mudcat exists and is successful.
It is also a way to assist people to grow up and mature.
True freedom can only follow choice.

Unsure if the objection was based on a) a 'personal' issue with Tezza, b) Just how sickly can can SMTtF be sung? c) General comments about crap folk programming on UK Radio, or d) The light banter which ensued from the above. Otherwise, this thread has clearly been most valuable, in as much as we may conclude that: a) Opera birds should probably stick to Opera songs, and b) Melodeonboy's shirts are probably best worn on the Radio.

who died and made SunrayFC god?

If Sunray FC doesn't like the thread, the Sunray FC doesn't have to read the thread. Easy enough

Nor me ... what the dickens does Dee Lite have to do with any of this?? Or have I missed the point somewhat?

This thread is definitely above the line IMHO.
My only point being to clarify what actually goes on within Broadcasting House re Folk (add definition here!) music.
As has been stated. If you're not interested, why read?
There are plenty of threads I wouldn't go near with a bargepole. But this one was more personal, and I chose to put my perspective on it. Anybody got a problem with that?
Ok. Carry on chaps...

No problem at all Ralphie.

I for one am quite happy to be corrected, and it is always useful to know the real story.

My problem was with another poster, who thinks that threads which don't interest him, should be closed.

If he feels that Mudcat, as is, is not for him, then we'll try to contain our disappointment over his departure.

Don T.

Highgate is way up high on a hill and right down at the foot is Camden Town where Davy Graham lived, by the Grand Union Canal. That what you mean?
Here he is, playing his oriental-influenced arrangement of SMTtF. He doesn't sing it.

These petty slights on what is a beautiful version of the Fair song are bizzarre to me. You're showing yourselves to be the cliched, narrow-minded Folkers those outside of yout genre see you as. Surely a beautiful voice is a beautiful voice? If Camilla's style is not yours, how about just not listening to or commenting on her? She is about to launch a career that will see her achieve success none of you could ever aspire to - maybe that's where this bitchy nonsense is coming from. Phil (opened minded student of all music)

Not really, I've listened to some bloody brilliant voices in Opera, and Early English music. I just think this (irrespective of her voice) is gross shmalttzy puppy sick.

And "Phil" - as a student, I'm guessing you're a fairly young guy? Some of these old bastards are actually pretty sound. How about getting shot of some of your own "petty" little prejudices about "Folkers" hey? The world isn't all about the student uni bar. Yes, every generation will come with its assumptions (young or old), same as every culture does - but that's what make's it worth exploring.

He's at it again.

I just heard him play a track by an Australian aboriginal singer called (I think) Guru Mul. I think the name of the track was 'Bapa'. Absolutely gorgeous stuff. Such a shame he's retiring. Why can't they just give him Mike Harding's show instead?

Did no one else hear Wogan's stand-in, Johnny Walker, play 'Waiting for the Day' by the 'Fisherman's Friends' this morning? He said that he'd been staying at a B&B in Port Isaac, Cornwall, and someone had given him a CD of a local shanty group, so he played a track from it this morning. Unacompanied lead singer and harmony chorus - real folk club feel about it.

Every Friday night on the Platt, at least during the summer you could hear see em, that may have been in Polzeath.

Thought I had a CD playing in the car when I switched it on this morning, had to do a visual check.
