Subject: RE: 2013 Moira Furnace Folk Festival From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 19 Aug 13 - 08:27 AM Wow, looks like I'm the first one home and (more likely) geeky enough to be checking in! Another absolutely wonderful weekend!!! Don't see how, but it just keeps getting better each year. Thanks so much to all who organised and ran this years festival, as well as all the performers (both the "official" ones and those who sang/played at the sessions). And thanks also to MGAS for another nice mudgather. 2 hours just isn't enough time for all that music and chocolate. Next year already on the calendar, and will be ready when the tickets go on sale in November. Looks like a great line-up again. |

Subject: RE: 2013 Moira Furnace Folk Festival From: Richard Atkins Date: 21 Aug 13 - 02:23 AM Thanks to Acorn4 for that last link, the drop-down finds so many at Moira. Talking to Drew and others, so many festivals covered with good quality. Peter Simmonds and the Team do justice with these professional clips. One of the best with good quality sound has to be our Guru, Hilary Ward on 'Where Ravens Feed' no. 28. All bias and favouritism intended :-) Direct Link Here |
Subject: RE: 2013 Moira Furnace Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 21 Aug 13 - 01:24 PM Thanks for your kind words Richard, you've earned some Brownie Points *grin* Another fantastic Moira! I originally thought that the very First Moira was the Best, very reminiscent of Miskin, but this festival just gets better and better every year. Huge thanks to the Committee and all the Volunteers and Stewards who worked so hard to make it such a wonderful weekend. This is a great festival to catch up with old friends & make new ones!! We had a pretty bad journey up on Friday, arriving to set up the caravan just an hour before my first set but Moira soon had me chilled out enough to enjoy singing in the main tent. I thoroughly enjoyed singing at Moira again and it was great to hear everyone singing with me, there were some wonderful harmonies. I have to say that the Landlady at the Railway PH was absolutely marvellous once again, a real asset to the Festival. We were there for the MudGather and a couple of late evening sessions and she was very hospitable, what a lovely Lady! Loved the Faggot sandwiches.... Once again we had a good attendance at the MudGather despite so much else going on at the Festival site. Thanks to all who came and sang, hugged, chatted, laughed, brought chocolate and ate speckledy cake & chocolate. Subject: RE: 2013 Moira Furnace Folk Festival From: Dave the Gnome Date: 22 Aug 13 - 08:47 AM My thanks to all the organisers too. As old Mt Grace used to say "You've all done verrrry well!" :-) Took someone who has not done a folk festival before - She said she is bringing friends next year too. My daughters will probably also join us as they are huge fans of Blackbeard's Tea Party. Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: 2013 Moira Furnace Folk Festival From: Dave the Gnome Date: 24 Aug 13 - 11:18 AM Just seen the 2013 photos on the web site and for the second year running they feature a Gnome grandson - Youngest last year, playing a toy tambourine and the eldest this year, asleep on his Grandma :-) Back of Mrs G is also featured at the Ceilidh.
