As far as I can see, Mbo has left, insulting us all in his last message (as he did several times in other threads). It's so annoying, that I can't find a reason for a reply, despite everyone's simphaty to him. I personally may not deserve any special consideration, but I know many people here who deserve respect and gratitude.

Well hasn't THIS been fun? I'm going to submit this whole thread to my psychology teacher, Dr.Barton!

Let me clarify for you all!

1.) I did not "insult" anyone. I merely posted the lyrics to the Oasis song "Married With Children" from their first album Definately Maybe from 1994. Most of you have heard me sing this song countless times in HearMe. Why does it all bother you now? Could it be that you really just ignore when I sing Oasis? D'yer think? Heck, even my sister knows the song by heart, she calls it "The Goodbye Song" and even mistook the CD for ME playing it.

2.) I'm surprised that no one analyzed the song as they did with songs like "Idiot Wind" and "Don't Think Twice"! A simple internet search WOULD have revealed the lyrics, all of which I did NOT include, on purpous! If you had followed a lead and founf the rest of the lyrics

"And it would be nice to be alone
For a week or two
But I know that I will be back
Right back here with you
With you, with you, with you, with youuuuuuuuuu"

You may have got a different reaction.

3.) None of my own words or intentions we written in the thread.

4.) Another quick search on the Oasis FAQ would REVEAL that the lyrics to the song are based on an argument Noel Gallagher had with his old girlfriend. The song is from HER perspective, THUS ERGO the person singing is the one's who music is being called "shite" NOT the person you are singing TO.

5.) I posted it with intent on leaving Mudcat for a bit, what with that insane project I had over the weekend. "Married With Children" IS a humourous song, and very jazzy & jolly. I'm sorry that none of you could saw it that way. A life-shaking incident HAS hit me, so I decided to return, deciding I needed as many friends as possible, as Matt R, thus dumping the old Mbo image, MUCH as Oasis did, from their old "drunk druggie lads" image to "clean sober progressively futuristic music (with a bit of an attitude still)" with their new album.

6.) Thank you for all your feedback. I had no idea some people saw me in such a worthless and annoying fashion. But then again, you know what some might say.

I like the name Matt.
The meaning of Matthew:
These individuals have come into life to learn how to be a true gift to all those they touch. This does not imply that they must martyr themselves, but rather that there is an energy of abundance that can be shared with others.
For some this may be a physical or material abundance, for others it may be a specific quality such as humor that can be shared, a gift to ease the life of others.
These qualities must be searched out; they lie within all of those with this name. Learning to activate these qualities and express them as a gift will be the task, keeping in mind that gifts are gifts only when given in love.

If the "Goodbye" post from Matt was insulting, I find his explanation more insulting. I don't have an obligation to know that was a lyrics from Oasis. I am not supposed to navigate the Web to find FAQ pages to investigate what he was telling us. I'm not a paranoid. I try to be gentle and grateful to all. His message was SIMPLY and CLEARLY insulting, and I expected a simple and sincere apology and was treated as an idiot.

However I agree that both threads are a waste of time. (Oops.. this is the first time I get angry here - my apologies to everyone else)

Matt -

May I add some comments. People who know me are often kind of annoyed by me saying 'err' instead of 'yes' or 'no'. I'm not that sure any more... But there are also things I think I can rely on, e.g. the following:

Re. 1) Don't you know yet that you needn't insult somebody to hurt him? 'Si tacuisses philosophus mansisses'. That's only a quote, not my words, so don't feel offended. Singing a song is something different - it would be a catastrophy if I could only sing songs that tell my very opinion.

Don't you know yet that people out there might be different from your little sister? They might even know things your little sister does not and in reverse not know things your little sister knows. (One has to ask what is more important to know.)

If you want to tell things to other people you have to try to do it some way THEY ALSO can understand, rather than some way YOU can understand, regardless how difficult the latter may seem to you. So there's a need tell it more simple, not more complicated. (The most complicated way you can tell something might be simpler than what you mean to tell itself - THAT'S a problem.)

Re. 2) If there's a need to do a 'simple' internet search in order to understand what you want to tell, don't ever complain about people not understanding you.

Re. 3) Refer to 1). If you quote something (without further comments) don't be surprised if people think about what you want to tell by this. You can't quote something without telling something. Be sure it is your own opinion, otherwise you must be aware of being misunderstood.

Re. 4) Refer to 2). There are many, many things people think of rather that thinking of doing a quick search on the Oasis FAQ. Sometimes they even think of things different from the whole internet. Imagine!

Re. 5) and 6) If you intend to leave mudcat for a bit why don't you simply do it? Nobody would have been hurt by this, and nobody will ever be. It always makes me sad when I see people 'burning bridges' without any need, and that's what you pretended to do - and finally did. Why should I set my house on fire when I go out for a beer? Just for the effect? Is it that important for the fire police to know that I'm not at home for some time, and will they thank me for telling them, especially if I do it that way?

You know that is also the way, so-called 'love' is handled. My friend wants to go somewhere. Well, what's the problem? He's free, I would never dare to call him a friend otherwise. But obviously there is a need to first finish everything by insulting me as deeply as ever possible, according to "never step over an enemy if you aren't sure that he's completely dead". So I'm asking myself what kind of friend that was. Shouldn't I?

Fun? - Yes, Matt - for ME. I was enchanted by how they were shocked and finally even strangled each other for motorbikes. Things like these tell me that THERE IS love and people just don't dare to tell. I know that, yet I like being reminded of it as often as ever possible. It gives me courage. And I also think it should encourage you by telling you that at least what you did up to then was good, maybe even precious. Of course I don't know if you are able to see it that way.

So, if you need encouragement why do you give some to me instead of noticing and preserving what you have? I love it but I don't need more of it that urgently. I also need as many friends as possible, of course, but I do have some, not many but sufficient, and I know that I can only keep them by not playing tricks on them, especially no tricks concerning our friendship. It's a matter of confidence. And that's something I will never joke about.

What do you think: Are you going to have more friends after that maneuvre or less?

BTW - to avoid paranoid misunderstandings: Pariah GUEST,Joerg does not have a hidden cookie, I never posted with some different name and as far as I know nobody else ever posted as GUEST,Joerg.

Love to you all (not the so-called kind, the real stuff)

Joerg

Matt. Amergin. Clinton.

I don't know about everyone else, but IMHO, this whole cycle of "Bash Oasis, Defend Oasis, Bash Oasis, Bash each other, etc." is getting a little old.
It seems rather clear to me that it has evolved into alternately attempting to piss each other off rather than really discuss opinions about music. And if it is about music, then everyone's opinion seems clearly established and unlikely to change.

So, why perpetuate it?
The whole thing seems to have become pretty juvenile.

But, again, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Glad to see you're still around, Matt. And don't take this the wrong way, but - Grow up a little. I can't speak lfor everyone, but I think that most of us really like you and like having you around. I may be misinterpreting this little drama we've had going here, but it wasn't necessary, and was more juvenile than I would have expected you to be.

Matt_R, I guess Branwen said what I'd say in a far more succinct manner. As far as the melodrama of "I'm just a scumbag...maybe I should die," that was a bit of the old Mbo coming through and I'd just as soon have not been subjected to it. Don't expect you to be a new person overnight, but think before you post.

As far as cluttering of the forum, the rant "ELO sucks, Oasis sucks, heavy metal sucks," or similar that seem to be used around here are as much clutter as just about anything that Mbo ever posted. And we've got a lot more 'clutter' to worry about around here than commentary about performance groups - such discussion at least has some basis in music, unlike a large percentage of the threads lately, which seem to be pure tripe.
