Subject: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: gnu Date: 27 Mar 01 - 08:56 PM Was going to save this topic for the weekend for a bit of fun, but I can't wait. Going to Oggie Land soon, but this may make waking up tomorrow a bit more fun. Impetus to rise again, you know ? Reincarnation... but as what ? Well, I can think of a lot of things I'd like to come back as in the next life, but I fear that I, with the luck I have had lately, am doomed to come back as an alcoholic woodpecker. Now, there's a tomorrow mourning ! Sooooo, what do you 'Cats want... or fear... to come back as in the next life. Or what past life wrought this one ? gnu |

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: Amos Date: 27 Mar 01 - 09:11 PM Someone I know once had a long and interesting conversation with a whale who was taking a lifetime off after having ben a successful but hard-drinking artist. Whales have a sort of interesting life, not too much stress, plenty of space to roam in, adequate food, and not much to worry about except noise pollution. On the other hand being a hawk has always appealed. But in general I think people come around again as people as long as they're still able to, and not too able to. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: Sorcha Date: 27 Mar 01 - 09:22 PM Have to think about this......cat is attractive, but not a feral one. Whale is attractive, but not a hunted one in a polluted ocean. Eagle is attractive but not with DDT thinning my eggshells. Human is attractive, but not when they kill babies over religion. Tree would do, but not in a threatened rain forest, or an Elm with Dutch Elm Disease. Aha! A weed maybe? A plant that is not desired where it is at, but is too tough to succumb to humanity's depradations........got it....a DANDELION!! |

But how would you post to the 'Cat ? Or is that a missing EAP tale ? Perhaps a thread on LL's raven adventures in the Poe style and tradidtion ? hmmmmgnu |

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: Sorcha Date: 27 Mar 01 - 09:53 PM but, gnu, they do! (oops, didn't' mean to rhyme there) Dandelions come back from poisoned roots, dug up/cut off roots, wind blown seeds......I have never been able to get rid of them, no matter what I do. But Raven or the Little Brother Crow seems like a good second choice. I have "talked" to/with them for years......they are good friends. They do get shot at, tho...... |
Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: Giac Date: 27 Mar 01 - 09:55 PM My late mother said she was going to come back as a tumblebug (dung beetle), because she'd had so much experience. I do try to not step on one ... just in case. |

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: Wavestar Date: 28 Mar 01 - 01:45 AM Dolphin, definitely. Dolphins spend their entire lives eating, sleeping, playing, and having sex. How great is that? The tuna thing would suck, but at least we're cutting down. I think it's worth the risk. Otherwise, a cat or a flying thing. I've got an affinity for crows, but seagulls are better flyers. -J |

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: mousethief Date: 28 Mar 01 - 02:20 AM Well, I don't really believe in reincarnation, but can I still play? If I did believe in it, and could choose what to come back as, I'd be a sequoia. Hopefully somewhere in a national park where logging isn't allowed. Tall and quiet and old. Peace from my roots to my topmost branches. Alex |
Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: Ebbie Date: 28 Mar 01 - 02:21 AM "Or what past life wrought this one?" Whoa, gnu. Great question- and one I don't think I'm ready to face. What are your thoughts on it for yourself? I agree with Lyrical Lady- if I come back as an animal (Sorry, Amergin- I believe we do choose, or rather, that the answer is obvious to us at that time) I would choose to be a raven. I like eagles but they are far too arrogant and royal to suit me. Ravens, on the other hand, say, Isn't this fun??!! Or at least, interesting, and that may be enough. (There is a curse that goes something like: May you always live in interesting times.) So maybe it isn't enough- but I'll try it. After all, we're talking 30 years, tops. *G* Eb

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: GUEST,Fibula Mattock Date: 28 Mar 01 - 05:12 AM Not that I think I'll come back, but I'd like to come back as me. I like being me, and I'd like to not have it end in the first place, but I suppose I can't find immortality that easily. Yeah, I'd like to come back as me. Or to swap places with my Other Half so he gets to be me and I get to be him. That would be weird, but very interesting. |

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: gnu Date: 28 Mar 01 - 08:32 AM Ebbie... I can't remember what I had for breakfast half the time, so going back over 45 years is a bit of a strain. But this is a "wish" thread, soooo, I figure I was a beaver, the "First Engineer". It completes the cycle of damming up old woods roads as a beaver and now trying to get across or around the dam things as a human. gnawinggnu |
Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: GUEST,Matt_R Date: 28 Mar 01 - 08:37 AM WELL!! Yep, it's "I Am The Walrus", one of my most sung and most quoted songs...my family is always like "uh oh he's doing the walrus song AGAIN..." Goo goo g'joob! |

Subject: Lyr Add: THE HIGHWAYMAN (Jimmy Webb) From: GUEST,Matt_R Date: 28 Mar 01 - 08:48 AM Here's a great song about past lives...it came out when I was 6 years old...simply one of the greatest songs ever. The Highwaymen I was a highwayman Along the coach roads I did ride With sword and pistol by my side Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade The bastards hung me in the spring of '25 But I'm still alive... I was a sailor I was born upon the tide With the sea I did abide I sailed a schooner round the horn of Mexico I went aloft and furled the main sail in a blow And when the yard broke off they say that I got killed But I'm living still... I was a dam builder Across a river deep and wide Where steel and water did collide At a place called Boulder, on the wild Colorado I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below They buried me in that grey tomb that knows no sound But I'm still around... I'll always be around, and around And around, and around, and around I fly a starship Across the universe divide And when I reach the other side I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can Perhaps I may become a highwayman again Or I may simply be a single drop of rain But I will remain... And I'll be back again, and again And again, and again, and again...

Subject: RE: BS: Reincarnation : I'd like to come back as From: katlaughing Date: 28 Mar 01 - 12:31 PM I suppose I will continue my evolution on learning to be a healer and I would like to use my words and musical ability even more so for such. If I had complete freedom to choose without thinking of the karmic ramifications or mis-direction it may cost, I would like to be a large wild cat with guarantees of living well and free. As it is, there is always work to do and I suspect when it comes time to make the choice I will ask the gawd of my heart what is for my highest good and choose that, warts and all. I would hope this would include getting together with some *ships in the night* from this lifetime, people I'd really like to know better and/or be with more. BUT, the idea of taking one lifetime span off to go swim as a dolphin, or fly like a red-tailed hawk, or run like a wolf has definite attractions! katlaughing is fine for now, though |
