Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: Noreen Date: 11 Sep 03 - 01:18 PM Little lost soul, if you're enquiring about the format it's explained in the introductory post: We'll be following the tried and tested formula of excellent guest spots interspersed with singarounds. If you want to know something else, make it more clear what you want? |
Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: Harry Basnett Date: 11 Sep 03 - 05:19 PM Thanks, Noreen...I don't want to get bogged down with this because it shouldn't be what Mudcat is all about, but I rather think 'little lost soul' is a certain person who makes a nuisance of himself on Manchester related threads with boring regularity. He's not funny and is in grave danger of making himself very unpopular. 'Nuff said!! Harry. |
Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: GUEST,Little lost soul Date: 11 Sep 03 - 05:23 PM So where do you stand on the origin and evolution of the Uillean Pipes then? |

Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: GUEST,Les the thread jumper Date: 14 Sep 03 - 03:46 AM Sorry Noreen, I was unclear. I was merely refering to the fact that when I posted it put your thread to the top of the site which at that point had three Manchester threads in a row. Which for an international site must suggest something interesting is going on around here. I am most confused about what is and what is not enyoyed here. Things seem to range from the deeply personal and trivial to profound, passing through really interesting and useful (did you give me the words for Monday morning by Cyril Tawney?) to what looks like well organised advertising (see Punch the Horse). Although when I tried to poke a bit of gentle fun at Punch on a fresh thread the editor removed it and lobed it into the original Punch thread. Ah well, its all good fun but not as much as singing and playing tunes? And I haven't even mentioned .............. |
Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: Bernard Date: 14 Sep 03 - 07:44 PM Good news, campers! Having broached the subject with the licensee, we now can confirm that anyone with a camper van or caravan will be okay parking overnight on the land opposite the Railway and Linnet for the duration of the Extravaganza. It seems the pub used to have a sizeable car park, which the Council requisitioned and, in exchange, agreed to allow the pub the right to use the land opposite - which is often used by drivers of heavy goods vehicles for overnight parking, too. So don't forget your Yorkie bars!! |

Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: Harry Basnett Date: 01 Oct 03 - 03:20 PM Thanks for reviving the thread, Noreen....but why the Swinton plug on this thread (not that I mind Dave getting a plug) and why the diary mention - - you've already said you'll be in America? Am I totally missing something here? Cheers.......Harry. :0) |

Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: GUEST,Matthew Edwards Date: 12 Oct 03 - 04:27 AM Only a week to go, and I've booked my accommodation for Saturday night. Have been listening to Chris Foster's CD Traces, so I'm looking forward to hearing him in person. But I've also had the pleasure of listening to a CD put together by Harry Basnett of his own songs which is something special again, and I hope Harry will be singing some of these over the weekend. Hi! Yvonne, nice to see you here as a real name catter. What happened to 'Diz'? I can't get to the OD tonight unfortunately but have a good 'warm up' anyway. |
Subject: RE: Manchester: Extravaganza 5 From: Yvonne Date: 12 Oct 03 - 06:52 AM Hi, Matthew I decided to 'come out' :o) I too have Harry's CD and it is superb.Wonderful that a singer/song writer has written and arranged his songs in a 'traditional style'. Bernard's expertise in recording and adding accompaniment to the songs is to be very much admired as well. Want to hear lots of those songs over the weekend, Harry. I have listened to Chris Foster's CD as well Matthew and am looking forward to hearing him. See you all there as I will not be along tonight afterall :o( |
