Drive carefully. Jacqui ans Seamus just left. They stopped in after a romp on the beach. Cats are in hiding and I am about to contend with the sand.
All the brothers were valiant.

Please Note:
Charlie has a blue carry all to be picked up.
Barry has a cooler to be picked up.
Someone left a tuner and must pick it up.

LAST CALL
I am having a yard sale over Memorial Day.
Anything left this time is fair game!
Mary

I've made the chili and will be making a cheesecake for the morrow. What other delights will there be?

Sinsull-

It's probably my tuner; it's been missing for at least a couple of months and I had assumed it was gone forever. Please place it in the blue-green picnic carry-all.

The menu sounds delightful. We'll bring a six-pack of porter (since it's winter again). We could also bring a large bag of organic blue-corn chips, but no salser unless you beg.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

No menu items from me -- the cook is entertianing the she dragon so I am flying solo -- even I don't have the temerity to ask him to cook if he isn't joining me.....

Damn... Mary must be really busy or she would have threatened me by now.

I'm going to be late to the Press Room (there's the two weeks' worth of laundry, a shower, packing, yada, yada), and I haven't had time to make anything.

AAAAARRRRRGH!!!

I can report that Jeri did at least make it to the Woodchuck's Revenge House Concert, and it was a wonderful dinner and concert.

I was delighted to hear a couple of favorite Si Kahn songs: Wild Rose of the Mountain and Aragon Mill. Then there were the outrageous parodies of Fox on the Run and Roseville Fair. There were also haunting ballads such as the one about the dance hall singer and the down and out cowboy; what's that one called? I know I've heard someone else sing it but I just can't put it together. There was a long lost Utah Phillips song and a whole lot more. I don't think they did a single woodchuck song, which is my one disappointment for the evening.

After our marathon driving, singing for three hours at the Press Room with the shanty swappers, we didn't have the energy to hang out afterwards for more singing. But we went away with two new CD's.

Any other survivors with reports?

Thanks to Mary for hosting another special event, and to Jacqui for coordinating the food.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble and JudyB

They did do Gunfighter Eyes, which is one of their own and very good it was too.

I'm now waiting for the words to 'Two Below' and one or two others that really got me. the 'Chucks are definitely very good fun and gave a great evening's entertainment. Sandy's granddaughter shows great promise as a folkie with a lovely voice and an obvious interest in the music. It was a treat to hear her sing.

I had fun. The 'Chucks and family arrived early and we shared some champagne and snacks while swapping stories. A "new" Maine story is in the works - "MaMa and the Last Longed-haired Maine Squirrel".

All my requests were performed. "Gunfighter Eyes" is a favorite. If you don't know it, buy a CD.

"Zucchini" was hilarious. Brought back memories of my sister-in-law dropping off bags of the insidious vegetable on neighbors' porchesd at midnight.

AND...Sandy brought his banjo. Poor man had to perform with me drooling in row 2. I thoroughly enjoyed last night. Nice to have Rebecca here. Now if the Kitchen Fairy would only come and make the mess go away.

Thank you Woodchucks!
Mary

PS Strange but true. Less alcohol was consumed last night than any other concert or song circle before. I have enough beer and wine as well as the hard stuff for another party. M

Had a Senior Moment with a meat thermometer much to everyone's amusement. Note to self: Take the cover off or you can't stick it into the meat.
I was complaining about how tough the meat was when Ashley, Sandy's grandddaughter, took the thermometer from my hand, removed the cover and politely said "It will work now".

I haven't been doing much music. I'm going to have to re-learn some songs I used to know and find some new ones - maybe some I can play on guitar. The post concert singing was a bit thin, but I was tired and assume others were too. We all folded sometime around 2-something.

It was a good time with good music, food and friends. Thanks for making it happen, Mary.

Jeri-

It's very important to the rest of us that you sing your music. It's probably important to you as well. So make time for it! That's an order, which I really don't do a lot of.

My main problem as an entertainer is Timing ! IF my timing was better I would have arrived in US LAST Wednesday , rather than NEXT Wednesday ! Then I could have been there for the fun !

Well we had a great time. This was really the first house concert we've ever done and a treat it was to play for such a knowledgeable and congenial audience. Sinsull is a great hostess (her inexplicable weakness for banjo not withstanding)and provides a fine setting for a concert. I'd like to thank everyone for their enthusiasm and hospitality, and for being so supportive of my granddaughter, who also had a great time. Hopefully we'll be able to make it up to Portland again soon.

Sandy

Imagine! Two banjo players dueling in my living room. Too much for this heart to take!

Next time check out the local schedules Terry. You are always welcome with or without your banjo.
