Subject: RE: What music did you enjoy over Xmas From: Michael Harrison Date: 29 Dec 09 - 09:27 AM I'm kind of "nuts-oh" when it come to music and although I would instantly call myself a "folkie," there is a strong streak of appreciation for the "pop" genre. With that in mind, I found myself at my desk and went on-line to draw out various versions of some of my favorite Christmas songs, such as - "Little St. Nick," "Snoopy's Christmas," the Hawaiian one that Jimmy Buffet does, "Christmas In Kilarney," "Strange Way," from the christian group 4 Him; "Christmas Is All In The Heart," from Steven Curtis Chapman and two different versions of "All I Want For Christmas Is You," one of which was done by Maria Carey, who I generally would not listen to, but the song came up and it just teemed with the sound of Phil Spector. I don't know who produced it, but they just captured that 1960's "girl group" sound of the Ronette's and the like. Hey, Happy New Year, everyone!....mwh |

Subject: RE: What music did you enjoy over Xmas From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 30 Dec 09 - 05:39 AM Well, as usual Santa brought me several things off my Amazon wishlist so I listened to St Lonnie, Martin Simpson, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Miller Anderson Band, Count Basie, the Prairie Home Companion movie soundtrack and Ken Colyer. Be very afraid: Herself (a glutton for punishment) bought me a guiro which is more portable than the washboard and thus might allow an old scraper like me to take it on holiday (along with the kazoo and spoons).
