Scots and English of course share much of their vocab. Take away the spelling/pronounciation differences and I would think the majority of Scots vocab is shared with English or had been shared with English. So just because something is in a Scots dictionary it doesn't mean it is exclusively Scots.

There is a German novel by Christa Wolf titled Kein Ort, Nirgends which literally means "No Place, Nowhere" (the English translator called it "No Place On Earth").

From which I guess that German "Ort" is cognate with Scots "airt".
