Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: punkfolkrocker Date: 18 Sep 18 - 05:01 PM Trouble is 'Observer' today.. who knows what GUEST name tomorrow...??? Who cares.. I'll just have a go back at any guest who comes here acting superior like they run the place... that's the working class council estate boy reflex still in me... |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Donuel Date: 18 Sep 18 - 05:32 PM Those who speak as "we" and "us" and orchestrate punishment for someone who amounts to a lonely, embattled and embittered old man are smaller than they think they are and specialize in dividing a community. And in the scheme of things, for what? |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Donuel Date: 18 Sep 18 - 05:48 PM I have often thought the new policy of excluding GUEST posts in BS was a surrender to kill diversity. It is rare to find a diamond in a goats ass anyway. Authorities only turned a possibility into an impossibility. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: keberoxu Date: 18 Sep 18 - 06:56 PM Helen, you will best appreciate TP's "Jingo" from having read many of the other TP Discworld books beforehand. "Jingo" has these central factors, with which it is best to have some background familiarity and history. The Patrician ... ah, shoot, what IS his name again? The Night Watch. All of them out in force. And, regarding the Night Watch, Commander Vimes and his "Bingly-Bingly BEEP!" Leonardo da Quirm plays a starring role, but you have to know who he is (introduced in that book about The Gonne). Klatsch. Or is it Klatsh? can't remember. The meddlesome aristocrats of Ankh. This is one of TP's more involved plots. But then, I am what Mudcatter Will Fly calls A Bear of Little Brain, and sometimes TP's plotting confuses the expletive deleted out of me. Enjoy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Sep 18 - 03:02 AM Observer is an ex-member who has had his membership revoked. He can no longer post below the line so he now uses the same tactics as he used to use, above it. Not that clever really as it gives the game away as to who he is and, yes, the best idea is to just ignore him. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Backwoodsman Date: 19 Sep 18 - 03:26 AM Aaaahh, it's not who I thought it was then, posting as a guest to disguise his identity - he's still posting down here. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Sep 18 - 07:30 AM I could be wrong BWM. Maybe it was just a terible guess :-) My thread with no further posts has been added to! It did go 45 hours with no one posting though :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Steve Shaw Date: 19 Sep 18 - 07:37 AM If that really was such a "Terible" guess it "woodcock" up this whole thread - bugger it, even... |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Raedwulf Date: 19 Sep 18 - 07:43 AM Oh, it's him is it? He always was a pain in the arse. Mind you, at least he actually had some facts at his command most of the time, even if they were always a bit one-eyed... |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Steve Shaw Date: 19 Sep 18 - 07:51 AM Shall we now change the subject or shall we risk adding to Dave's buggered thread count... |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Donuel Date: 19 Sep 18 - 09:32 AM oops with too little info I went on a different tangent. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Little Hawk Date: 19 Sep 18 - 11:30 AM How about if we reach beyond mere thread-buggering here and see if we can determine who holds the buggered *life* record? |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 22 Sep 18 - 02:54 AM I'm pretty sure that many would claim a buttered life record but it they can waste time on here, they can't be doing too bad :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Steve Shaw Date: 22 Sep 18 - 03:35 AM I'm having to check with meself here that I'm entirely comfortable with buggered and buttered in the same thread... :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Senoufou Date: 22 Sep 18 - 04:08 AM er...'Last Tango in Paris' Steve? |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Steve Shaw Date: 22 Sep 18 - 04:33 AM Exactement! |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 22 Sep 18 - 05:35 AM I used to think any contribution from me was the kiss of death for a thread which would then die. I understand DtG's concerns. I now look at the people posting to a thread before I read the contributions. If I see certain names appearing repeatedly I know it will be a "'Tis" "'Tisn't" childish spat and read no further. RtS |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Backwoodsman Date: 22 Sep 18 - 11:19 AM I see The Gobby ex-Squaddie and The Village-Idiot of Hertford have finally buggered the 'Brexit #2' thread. It's perfectly possible to ignore that pair of fuckwits and their hangers-on. Just. Ignore. The. Trolls. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Backwoodsman Date: 22 Sep 18 - 11:21 AM Apologies, it's the 'Reclaim the CentreGround' thread. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 22 Sep 18 - 11:51 AM Buggered, buttered, battered. What's it matter? Mind you, I suspect If I asked for a buggered balm cake or buggered sausage at the chippy I may be shown the door :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Do I hold the buggered thread record? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 22 Sep 18 - 11:55 AM P.S. Don't mention the K word on here BWM. You know what they say about speaking of the devil! Gee. Looks like this is now a place for personal attacks on folks. Thread closed |
