Enjoy this video of Andre Rieu leading Shostakovich's 2nd Waltz, the "Waltz for Variety Orchestra." That's a very traditional piece of music. I can easily picture it being played in a cafe in Vienna or Paris early in the 20th Century. YOu don't get to see much of the audience, but look at all the young people have having a ball at 3:39. If nobody wears a plaid shirt and a beard, they don't know it's traditional, and they like it. That video is one of the things I turn to when I'm feeling down and need to cheer up. Give it a try. |
