Heavens forfend, Topsey, I fear your personality has a three way split. But don't play the innocent with me you foul feind. I know you of old remember. I recall clearly the evil deed you carried out in Wolverhampton. Can you?

Captain Swing

The only thing I rememberabout Wolverhampton is borrowing a pint of milk from the doorstep on the way back from a wedding. At least I think that was Wolverhampton!!

Well that's two mysteries solved, we PC, PD and myself (KB) all know the identities of The Captain and Topsey. Would the rest of you care to elucidate as to your involvement with this terrible trio. I'm nearly sure that Vista = Topsey, judging by requests for words of songs that I used to sing, In Manchester that city of cotton twist and twill.

So, you can, if you wish, Email me under my nick on this site. I'll be in contact.

What a great adventure this trace has been. Regards all, Keith.

So,

All mysteries apparently solved, Xcept! Burl, I presume is Dave Burland, how are you mate? LR Mole, Is that you Liz? Last I heard Liz had buggered off to tyneside with a radio ham. Radio hams are to society what Steve Davis is to human interest!!. PS I used to be one before I became a folk singer which I have long since ceased being and Am now coaching rugby. Any body want to argue?

Regards, and god bless all, my final word on this thread, unless you can Inspire me otherwise. Keith

Strange what you can find on the internet - is that Keith Brown of 'Jacks Maggot' fame? . A later band which played at the Sub on a Sunday night in the early 80's.

If so I was just talking about you the other day as you were the person who through Liam Duffy got me playing guitar and mandolin - I recently found a tape of you playing the tunes for me to learn., a photo of the band and a recording of my first live appearance.

I moved up to Durham some 20 years ago and have recently started playing again, not quite back to first base but having to get those fingers working again.

My memories of Keith are of small sessions in the back room of the "Nottingham" in Sea View Street, Cleethorpes. Anyway, somebody was asking about Rob van Sante. I last saw him in Whitby about 10 years ago and he was working for the Battlefield Band in some capacity. I wonder if he still has the green Volvo Amazon?

Keith is resposibile (or culpable in my case) for getting quite a number of people playing.

Thanks for the update Big a. I'm very sorry to hear of Liam's passing. His contribution to the music in the Grimsby area will always be fondly remembered by many of us who were on the scene in the 70's and early 80's. Farewell tae Tarwathie.

Heh Heh John Skryp eh? I remember you from Hereford school, you didn't go to Macaulay though did you? - or did you? I also remember seeing you with Shoreline in 1970 at the Mucky Duck Folk nights in Grimsby, I did a couple of singer's nights. Sorry to hear that Liam has gone, he held it all together well didn't he? I also remember talking to you at the South Parade youth club in 1968/9 when the local pop band "Arthur J. Crombie's Musical Experiment" supplied the music. You lived very near to Paul Hammond as a young lad didn't you? I think it was Paul who introduced me to you about 1966. well then who am I? Hope that you're gonna check out this long dormant thread sometime soon. Cheers then, from Mr X
