Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 13 Oct 06 - 11:16 AM We have a problem, Heuston! The carpet cleaners who were removing the ground in dirt in the carpet left by the Poles who removed the asbestos (at the Court of King Caractacus, etc) have just left. "Reliable" Removals who have most of my furniture cannot re-deliver it until the 27th. So I have a big empty drawing room, and two big empty bedrooms. So, if anyone is still going to come on the 21st to the White Horse, I have maybe half a dozen camping chairs that we can sit on in the large empty drawing room by the fire, and if people want more they will ahve to bring them. Likewise I have two large empty bedrooms that can be girls' dorm and boys' dorm respectively - bring own lilo, pump, sleeping bag and pillows!! I also of course have the caravan... Please email or PM me to advise if coming or not so I can let Paddy know about the army truck and need/not for it. |

Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Dipsodeb Date: 14 Oct 06 - 06:19 AM Essex Girl and I were talking on Wednesday about how we were going to get to the Whitehorse from yours. The possibility of a lift from Paddy sounds good if he is willing and able. Chairs are not a problem I can raid the campervan. Might even be a good idea to drive it down to sleep in as it will free up more space in your lovely des res. If you need ought else let me know. Is the kitchen operational? I can make up a huge pot of something and bring it with me and some nice bread for dunking. ~Debs~ |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 14 Oct 06 - 06:51 AM Kitchen is fine... I will buy stew components Weds. The rooms out are the drawing room and the two big bedrooms, so I'm projecting the bedroom with the en-suite as girls' dorm and the other big bedroom as boys' dorm, and any loveydovey couples attending can fight for the middle front bedroom with the sofabed.... I was thinking of driving volvo over to White Horse with some people, and locking instruments either in pub or in volvo after, coming back by paddywagon, and walking over in morning to sober up and find volvo.... Of course I have no idea how many attending and staying overnight. I am about to level caravan and set up water etc so that will serve two, and it can be turned into a giant fornicatorium (large double bed rahter than two singles) without much trouble. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 14 Oct 06 - 12:38 PM Caravan totally set up, with new shower pump too, and the heating in it works, and now the outside temperature is not summer the fridge too, so the two (or orgy) who book that will be OK! |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Girl Friday Date: 14 Oct 06 - 04:41 PM Fornicatorium? Who's been watching I Clavdivs then? Have fun everyone. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 14 Oct 06 - 07:12 PM I think you'll find it was Up Pompei. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Oct 06 - 12:45 PM Val and Pete (Dilligaf and Slats) have been doing sterling work advertising by word of mouth. We may have a number of singers from Bishop Guldulfs Morris. I have delivered the pub promo material and it sounds as if quite a few Upper Stoats will be coming. Remember to be on time (8.15 or 8.30-ish), for this pub closes, unlike the previous one! |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Girl Friday Date: 15 Oct 06 - 04:35 PM As promised, promo now on both OFF and TDL websites. One has a link to this thread. Went to Fab Club and gave it a plug. Jo-Jo is pleased. Will plug it wherever we go next week. Sue and Trev. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Girl Friday Date: 15 Oct 06 - 04:47 PM And Richard, can you ask Debs if she got my PM? It's the only contact I have for her at present... ta. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Oct 06 - 06:29 PM Thank you Girl Friday. I'm sure Jeff has Debs or Pat's phone number. PM me to remind me to get it for you. Debs has been a bit computerless but was back up. I have been communicating by PM with her. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Essex Girl Date: 16 Oct 06 - 06:35 AM Richard,Can leave my car at your house and come with you to The White Horse? If so what time will I have to be there? I'll also have a word with Kenningham & Co on Wednesday. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 16 Oct 06 - 06:40 AM 8-ish prolly. Maybe 7.45? Or you could go direct to White Horse, leave car there, come back in Paddy-wagon, and walk over to get car in am to clear head.... |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Dilligaf Date: 16 Oct 06 - 12:25 PM Any one wishing to dump intruments at mine will be welcome, Not sure I like being called a stoat, thought of myself more as a fox and slats passes very well as a heron (if wearing shorts), looking forward to Saturday. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 16 Oct 06 - 04:45 PM Oh no, dear, a mink, or so I gather. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: My guru always said Date: 17 Oct 06 - 03:17 PM May pop by as a detour on our way to Gatwick to meet family in early hours of Sunday. Sounds like a Fab session in the offing, would stopover if we could but the plane from Dubrovnic will be calling! |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Dipsodeb Date: 18 Oct 06 - 03:20 PM Thanks Sue I did get your PM. Unfortunately the price was a bit rich for me at the mo, maybe next year! ~Debs~ |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Girl Friday Date: 18 Oct 06 - 07:40 PM Not very nice calling Dilligaff a mink, heard on the radio tonight that they have a very strong smell!, and make long nosed dogs jump over bridges into ravines. Slats as a heron? That we can well imagine. Does anyone know if they come in white? If not, it's a stork that we spotted in the estuary marshes last Sunday afternoon. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 18 Oct 06 - 09:18 PM They also have expensive fur. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 20 Oct 06 - 08:22 PM C'mon, announce yourselves, it affects how much stew I make and I've sodding well bought the meat for it now! |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: My guru always said Date: 22 Oct 06 - 04:46 AM Apologies for non-attendance: dashed off to Snowdonia on Thursday to see a very poorly favourite Aunt. Returned yesterday but was too knackered to do an extra hours driving. Am sure you all had a Brill time! |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: melodeonboy Date: 22 Oct 06 - 06:34 AM We did indeed. Thanks for setting it up, Richard. Will the next one be on the third Saturday in November (i.e. the 18th)? If so, Growler, Little Legs and I should be coming. I'm gigging on the 25th, so that's out for me. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Dipsodeb Date: 22 Oct 06 - 06:40 AM Thanks Richard a great evening. Sorry we couldn't stay for the stew, i'm sure it was lovely. Good to hear Jeff playing again even though he didn't make the pub, Pat enjoyed accompanying him. See you next time. Debs |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 22 Oct 06 - 07:23 AM I think a lot of the thanks go to Val and Pete whose local promo work obviously paid off with a good turnout of audience who also seemed to enjoy themselves. I'll consult diaries and start a new thread for the next one, maybe later today. By next time I should have my furniture back! Guru, sorry to hear of family probs, no pressure. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: growler Date: 22 Oct 06 - 08:21 AM Bloody good evening, well done Richard |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Girl Friday Date: 22 Oct 06 - 09:55 PM Who else was there? No report from Richard yet? We got a call from Gastove to plug, and do his charity do at The Barge. Shame it clashed with your gig,his do didn't go in the akf. It was somewhere to take the boys too, and they both played with their dad in the open mike session. Let me know when next do is and will update websites. |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 22 Oct 06 - 10:54 PM Review It was just the right size for everyone to get enough turns without it being onerous. Self, George (with a new toy, a sort of trumpet to attach to mouth organs to assist tremolo control) Fisheye Melodeonboy Growler Slats (and Dilligaf) Pat (and Dipsodeb) Essex Girl Annie and Fay Keith from Bishop Gundulf Little Legs Audience of 12. Evening flew by. Song of the night? Melodeonboy's "Pleasant and Delightful", to which we added all the incorrect verse endings, and which he finished off (careful choice of words here) with a last verse taken from "Pinball Wizard" ! RIPOHMS was not feeling well enough to come with us but when we went back to my gaff for a snifter by the fire he played and Pat blew up an absolute storm with Fisheye adding banjo. The survivors went to bed about 3-ish! |
Subject: RE: Folk in North Kent From: fair maiden of nottingham Date: 25 Oct 06 - 05:29 AM an excellant evening Richard. Hopefully it can be kept going, transportation to and fro may be slight problem,as hopefully George and I can enjoy a few drinks next time. |
