Those of you who were there last night, and heard my harassers' rag, and the long spiel about my troublous neighbour might like to know I've had a positive result from him. See Asperger's help thread in BS.

Last night the boys were outnumbered by the girls. Trev and I first arrived,to find Penny was first, and one of the Dregs (male). Next, 3 ladies, Jenny, Helen, and Joanne, then Helen, Paul Steele's lady. Then the male quotient went up by 2 with the arrival of Steve, then Ty. First timer Linda (Essex Girl) then upped the ladies team. Definitely ladie's night, a most unusaual occurence.

Shan't be there, I'm afraid. Over in Gloucestershire, and confined to house by sprained left ankle and painful knee after a fall on a wet manhole cover in Stroud.

Hi all, I'm good thanks Sue - just settling in to Warwick, moved into my house in Coventry on saturday (and then played a gig that night in Oxford - Christchurch college, very posh!). Got my enrolmenty stuff today and have various introductory things (and a couple of small social events!) all week.

How is everyone doing? Glad to hear the club is still going strong - although I'm disappointed to hear that all the ladies start attending AFTER I leave....was it the Josh Ritter?

Much love,

Chris

P.S. Photos of our "Doctors and nurses pub crawl" this coming thursday - with me in home-made nurses outfit - to follow...

Our first guest night with Leopards in charge of Fox and Hounds.
One half of Canary Woolf arrived, Danny Kyle, a mystery surrounds his musical partner, and we hope that John is ok. A shortage of floor singers meant 3 songs from TDL, and new boy, Simon being dropped in the deep end, also singing three numbers before Danny took the floor. What a talented young man! Ty and Jane arrived sans guitar, and kindly returned to Jane's to collect one. Sue and Grant Rule did one song each, and Ty and Jane two, before Danny's second set. Only Jane, Sue, Helen and myself on the ladies team tonight. BTW Chris, all these ladies are too old for you dear, and most are spoken for. Glad to hear you're doing well. Can't wait to see these photos!!! Love Sue.

Unfortunately, not enough. Mostly now the problem is that I'm not sleeping and have not ennough energy to face much driving! However, when I do make it back, I have a new song, beginning:

As I walked out on the steep streets of Stroud,
On the steep streets of Stroud on one wet Saturday...

The chorus goes (in case anyone wants to practise beforehand):

So rub in the Deep Heat, the gel Ibuprofen,
Roll on the Tubigrip, tightly to hold,
Take paracetamol morning and evening,
Rest with the leg up and compresses cold.

I'm going to send a copy to Stroud council with the suggestion that the manhole covers be treated with antiskid material.

Penny

Glad to see that Penny is still writing songs despite her injuries. Another great singaround, although there was no-one else there when we arrived at 8.15. Soon afterwards the charabanc arrived with performers and audience. Thank you for coming (in no particular order),Dead Horse, John from Elsie's, Jenny, Simon, Peter, and two newbies, Phil and Steve. We had songs ranging from traditional, Irish, Ewan McColl, Gospel through to supurb blues. Another singaround next week, so come along.

Thanks for those of you who have loked at the website. hope youy liked it. Well, after last week's brilliant session, can we possibly do better tomorrow. I'm laid up with the dreaded lurgy so may not see you, but Trev'll be there. He's gone to Fab Club today as we are RTB's transport and hosts. The same thing happened this time last year , so let's hope I can get rid of it soon.

Despite both of us now being poorly, I'm better than I was so we both turned up last night. not the usual audience as half of Knatts Valley are suffering too. However we managed 10 in total with some excellent songs. Guest next Monday is Roger Sutcliffe, who is touring the south at present.

Hi Pete nice to have you on the thread. What's good about folk music is that it's all embracing, especially at fox and hounds. You do need to work on your voice projection a bit though as you tend to get drowned out by your electric and Ian's keyboard. Don has said he's coming back soon... hooray! Se you Monday

Well, here am I again. Les was absolutely great tonight, and even his old jokes went down well with a fresh audience! He really mixed it up with afew songs that I'd not heard him do,plus many old favourites. We had some nice floor spots, and it was great to have Grant and Sue Rule on the list again. We badly need some more audience though. Entry to the club is totally free - except for the obligatory raffle of course!

Newbie Jeff from Cowden had some lovely songs, a fine voice, and a Martin.! Nice to have Ben who was on school holidays. Rag Mama Rag next Monday. Be there, or be somewhere else.Apologies to synbyn for some of our guest nights clashing with Nellies', but it enables us to tie in with Fab Club.

Undeniably the best guest night we've had, though so many of them have been absolutely great. I spotted at least one other potential floor singer towards the rear of the pub, but he'd not brought his guitar, or picks, and slide. It was his first visit, and he didn't know that we allow floor singers on guest nights. I know, that it's mostly Pete and I that post on here, so if any one else reads this, N.B. you can either, like Geoff did, book with me for a spot via a PM or just turn up. If we are inundated with singers it'll be just the one song, but we'll endeavour to fit you in.

Thank you Pete. Prayers answered methinks. He's still being monitored but is unhooking himself to go to the loo now, without any walking aids. He says that a couple of others with exactly the same symptoms are on a 3 day stay, so hopes to come out on Thursday. No driving for a month though, and he has to give up the fags (result).Do you feel able to run the guest sessions for a while. The pub's covering the fees, so we don't need any cash. Fran said Geoff would put the p.a. out.It would mean you getting there between 7.30 and 8 though, but that's not critical.

Ian Petrie and Steve Shorey return for their 2nd gig tomorrow night. Shame we won't be there, it'll be grrrreat! Latest on recovering heart patient. I have just scoured the internet for, and printed the leaflet that he imagined he'd brought home from the hospital. He's busy reading it. He's eating less rubbish and more fruit. Sleeping a bit during the day, but going to bed earlier and getting up by 8 am. He musn't go outside in wet and windy weather, so today he's a couch potato refining his aimlessly mooching about indoors skills. Before I saw the dos and dont's I got him to unscrew a jar of pasta sauce. He mustn't do that. He's watching Coronation Street, we haven't watched soaps for about 3 years. Half an hour of Corrie later and he's looking for something else to do. Time for tea.
