Yes, Miners Arms do is usually pretty good, as is the regular session on the first Wednesday of the month. We're really lucky around here to have lots of opportunities for music and plenty of talented players and singers to listen to.

Must just say that the Bishops Castle Weekend is on a different site - nice and flat but still about the same staggering distance from a good pub!

Do we need to book a camping place, Trevor? Or just turn up on the day?

No, you'll be OK to just show up - there's plenty of room (unless of course a thousand come!)

So what, where and when at Bishop's Castle? If the information is up among the out of date stuff I expect I'm not the only one not willing to search (actually Bishop's Castle is a bit far south for me when there's so much happening and clashing in Cheshire).

There are now regular concerts in Shropshire:

The Hive, Shrewsbury now has a Folk event one Sunday a month promoted by Shrewsbury Folk Festival. Is a delightful small 100 seater 'intimate' venue and Jackie Oates was the lovely opening act in September. Crooked Still was October's superb sell out and there are some great acts booked for the following few months.

2010
21 November Kris Drever, John McCusker & Donald Shaw
12 December Bella Hardy
2011
9 January Jez Lowe
13 February Jon Boden & the Remnant Kings
13 March Chris Wood
10 April Ewan Robertson & Rua Macmillan
8 May Martyn Joseph
12 June Rachael McShane Band

Tickets & location details can be found via the website

http://www.hiveonline.org.uk/index.php?id=807

North Shropshire Folk have Spiro for their next Concert on Saturday 4 December at Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch Leisure Centre. Bob Fox and Billy Mitchell will be there on Saturday 12 March 2011

Kerfuffle A Midwinter Tour 2010 starts on Thursday 9 December at Hope Village Hall
That's Sam, Hannah, Jamie with Rob Harbron for this tour details on their website

The Town Hall, Wem is also putting on folk/world music and Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury now has regular Folk Concerts in the main and Walker Theatres.

events within 50 Km of Ludlow but you could choose another town and reduce the radius of search. Best of luck.

Does Mo the Caller intend to sound shirty? I don't like that much. I won't bother refreshing old threads if that's the reception I get.

Sal, you refreshed the thread by saying that "Bishop's castle has an event". It would have been more useful to say what the event was, and a few more details, otherwise why mention it?

I agree though, 'shirtyness' in manner is not helpful, from anyone.

:)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be shirty, just cryptic like your post seemed to me.

I opened a thread which looked marginally interesting (we live in Cheshire, so go to events in N. Shropshire), saw it was mostly 6 years out of date or more, clicked on the only new post and was puzzled that I might have missed something.

Reading through some of the older posts I can see some that out of date, the session at Audlem is now at the Shroppie Fly on Mondays, very inclusive, we go to it occassionally and find it varied, according to who is passing through on their boats. The Market Drayton session has changed place and day more than once, not sure when or where it is now.

Don't know why it posted a blank message just now.
