Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Amos Date: 27 Sep 04 - 10:34 PM The giddy side of Morose? I think that's where the tide race comes by the paper mill -- it always looks kinda brown and frothy over theah. Morose, a coastal town, about 127 cheerless souls...old route 1 rolls right past the giddy side, as I recall... :>) That's jus' west of Penobscot, if memory serves. 'Course, ain't no gayrantee 'bout thet! **g** A |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Bert Date: 27 Sep 04 - 10:51 PM I didn't look at this thread for a few days 'cos I was scared what it might say. Now I read it and you all seem to have gone crazy. It's gone from biopsies to saggy asses - well Kendall if having a saggy ass is what it takes to get well then I wish you the saggiest one of all. Luvya guy, and still rooting for ya. Bert. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Big Mick Date: 28 Sep 04 - 12:47 AM Cap'n, while he has that laser thingamabobbie fired up, see if he can focus it on yer arse and get rid of a few wrinkles. Mick, who loves Kendall and knows that he is going to catch a load of aul shite from the Cap'n when he sees him at the Getaway.....LOL. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: KT Date: 28 Sep 04 - 01:33 AM YAHOO!!!! This is the smilin'est thread I've seen in a long time!!!!! And the best news of the day!! And it's been a GREAT DAY!!! Good on ya, Kendall!! Can't wait to meet you and Jacqui!! KT |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Mark Cohen Date: 28 Sep 04 - 02:03 AM It's not very well known, but the perfect atmospheric environment for healing vocal cords following laser surgery happens to be exactly the one that results from drinking a very large Mai Tai while inhaling ocean spray and balmy trade winds. (Just reminding you that the option of recuperating in Hawaii is still open...there are worse places to rest your vocal cords and show off your ass.) All the best, Kendall. Aloha, Mark PS, not to worry, second best is Bushmill's and a Nor'easter. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: GUEST,Partridge Date: 28 Sep 04 - 04:16 AM Great news Kendall - keep positive love Pat x |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 28 Sep 04 - 05:43 AM I won't uncross my fingers and toes until after Thursday, but this is good news indeed! Allison |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 28 Sep 04 - 06:44 AM Mark, you had better mean it! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Rapparee Date: 28 Sep 04 - 08:11 AM There's also the pure mountain air of the Idaho high desert country. And I've got 16 year old single malt Bushmills AND Red Breast.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Alaska Mike Date: 28 Sep 04 - 09:46 AM Nothing beats the recouperative power of that first breath of -40 degree air on a cold, dark morning on the tundra, Kendall. Also, I can tell you from experience that a truly COLD morning will do wonders for the wrinkles in your ass as well. Keep the good news coming, Captain. Mike |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Amos Date: 28 Sep 04 - 10:41 AM My experience growing up in New England (long before I even thought the THOUGHT of a wrinkled ass) is that cold mornings ADD wrinkles in certain areas, Mike. I don't think there is a more wrinkled surface known to man or beast than the flesh of a scrotum exposed to -20 degree weather on a winter morning when the furnace has failed. That's an opinion, though, not a scientific fact!! :) A |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Sep 04 - 11:33 AM I'd offer a Texas locale for healing, but I'm afraid you'd just go home with asthma. Our air isn't particularly good lately--we're having Ozone Action Days. Hawaii does sound just the thing! Bert, I mispoke. I introduced the term "saggy" ass when in fact until that point they'd only been discussing a "wrinkled" ass. I don't want to compound Kendall's problems! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Alaska Mike Date: 28 Sep 04 - 01:13 PM SRS, I believe the sag is the cause of the wrinkle. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Morticia Date: 28 Sep 04 - 02:06 PM Heard a couple of days ago but didn't get to the thread til now......and in fact I am so brimful of hope and also worry that I can't say much........keeping everything crossed until Thursday.. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 29 Sep 04 - 03:28 AM This is incredible! Dr. Shapshay's lackey called and said they had changed my appointment to November 4th! Can you believe that? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Ellenpoly Date: 29 Sep 04 - 04:05 AM I hope you'll call them back and talk to the doctor to find out why. Don't let them put you off, Kendall. Get on their butts and find out what the story is. And exert pressure to get an earlier date. Lie like hell if necessary. I'm serious. ..xx..e |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 29 Sep 04 - 09:19 AM I don't know how to lie |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Amos Date: 29 Sep 04 - 09:30 AM Skipper, if the doctor now feels the urgency is abated to such a degree, why complain? At least he isn't yelling at you to get your saggy ass onto a gurney by noon!! A |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Stilly River Sage Date: 29 Sep 04 - 10:12 AM But I can understand Kendall's desire to have this over and done with. The waiting can be agonizing. Keep their toes to the fire! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Jeri Date: 29 Sep 04 - 10:23 AM The made the appointment when they didn't know if the tumor was growing. It doesn't seem to be, so they thought it was safe to move you in and stick in some other person in there who had a giant monster tumor. Either that, or they've made a huge mistake and need to be complained at. Even if they're NOT worried, it's tough when you want to get this behind you. Does Mark have room for two? Could be a recovery period/honeymoon. Keeping your sense of humor is a good thing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 29 Sep 04 - 12:15 PM You mean all those stories you tell are true????? I suppose that would explain a lot...... |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: SINSULL Date: 29 Sep 04 - 12:50 PM You will have your voice through Election Day! Oh Goodie! The waiting is the worst part, Captain. You know that. The next worse is having someone else control your life. Captains aren't good at that. Turn it into lemonade - sing a thousand songs at the Getaway! And if you do "Old Rivers" I will remove your vocal chords myself. Even my patience has a limit. SINS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Tannywheeler Date: 29 Sep 04 - 02:18 PM God, I hate the C-word. Rotten damn spawn of the devil. Lost both parents (and one set of grandparents) to diff. forms of that ugliness. Not to mention various vital vertebrae in the backbone of what's best in the world. Enough reason to be angry and miserable. But raspy voice? RASPY VOICE!!!!???? Woody Guthrie, noone's idea of Pavarotti, still converts hearers, and he's been dead for how many years? I'm not a major Dylan fan, but he's another iffy-voicd singer who appeals to people. And I know folks who hold their breath listening to Dave van Ronk... It ain't the tone-quality, it's what's said. The most important job in the world is Storytelling. It's the way we learn to know truth, love, decency, beware of viciousness. You were right about lying: Real Storytellers never lie. They find verbally creative ways to present inner, eternal truths. Storytellers are NOT affordable losses. You get in to that doc, and past this laser thingy, and ROAR BACK. Serious consequences to disobeying a direct order, soldier. Tw |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Rapparee Date: 29 Sep 04 - 03:51 PM Kendall -- I've been researching the subject and now have the Definitive Word About Potatoes. They are not at all what everyone thinks! You get past this surgery stuff and I'll GIVE YOU, FREE FOR NOTHING, the results of my months and months of research on the subject. You can then tell The Truth About Potatoes (and it's just as true of those produced in Maine as those produced in Idaho). |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 29 Sep 04 - 04:35 PM My local ENT had a talk with the folks in Boston, and they moved my appointment to next Thursday It's the old squeeky wheel thing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: wysiwyg Date: 29 Sep 04 - 04:40 PM Just remember-- the longer it is till the surgery, the longer our prayers can work toward healing. Don't soak up all the healing power on being nervous-- aim it at your neck! :~) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 29 Sep 04 - 04:40 PM Just remember - no procedures to be carried out until AFTER the Getaway. you need to be able to say "I do"! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: GUEST Date: 29 Sep 04 - 05:14 PM You Betcha, Jacqui! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Ellenpoly Date: 30 Sep 04 - 03:27 AM Glad you called them Kendall, and glad they responded. Better to be a squeaky wheel than a flat tire (I have no idea what that means.) Fingers remain crossed (and typing getting better in this position.) ..xx..e |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 30 Sep 04 - 06:47 AM Squeeky wheel gets greased. Flat tire gets thrown onto the tip. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Ellenpoly Date: 30 Sep 04 - 11:22 AM Kendall, I did know the meaning of both squeaky wheels and flat tires. Sorry. Guess my humour went as flat as that tire. Never mind. I bet my ass is saggier than yours, too. ..xx..e |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 30 Sep 04 - 07:39 PM I knew you did, but I love that word "tip" as a synonym for dump. If you think I'm going to coment on your ass,.... I may be foolish, but I'm not mad! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 01 Oct 04 - 03:57 AM THREAD CREEP WARNING: Cap'n, in the UK "Tip" and "Dump" are being replaced by "Recycling Centres" or even "Civic Amenity Sites". Seeing a sign to the latter you might turn up expecting to find a playground or sports centre and just find a landfill site! RTS (Best wishes for the treatment) |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: kendall Date: 01 Oct 04 - 05:50 AM We have "Redemption Centers" too. When they first came out with that, I thought it was some sort of Christian recycling place for fallen women. What's happening to plain English? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Ellenpoly Date: 01 Oct 04 - 06:01 AM Look at it this way, would we have so much fun with a plainer, no-nonsense language? We'd have lost some terrific threads on mudcat, and a lot of good songs as well. ..xx..e |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 02 Oct 04 - 04:01 AM One time when we were travelling around Maine I asked Kendall what a redemption centre was. He told me that it was a place where they helped fallen women. Problem is, he is such a convincing 'storyteller' that I believed him until I saw the grin on his face. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 07 Oct 04 - 08:22 PM I've just heard from Kendall who has seen the Boston specialist today. They will be operating on 2nd November and have confirmed that the cancer can be dealt with using laser surgery. At the worst, if they have problems accessing the area he may have to have a temporary tracheotomy for a few days but it is more likely that they will be able to do the work without cutting his throat! They are going to want him to stay in hospital at least overnight and he has been told that, as there is a certain amount of inflammation around the area from his forcing his voice too much (probably ranting about Bush!)he must, for the moment, start speaking more softly so not to increase the inflammation. After the operation he has to rest his voice for a while so won't be able to express his feelings about the election results very vociferously this year. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Alaska Mike Date: 07 Oct 04 - 08:30 PM HOT DIGGITY!!!!!!! Looks like there will be additional reasons to hoist a pint in celebration at the Getaway. Thanks for the great news Jacqui. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Mudlark Date: 07 Oct 04 - 08:31 PM Have marked the calendar (as any more I've a mind like a seive) and will be sending escalating best wishes right through surgery and on into recovery. Take care, both of you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 07 Oct 04 - 08:31 PM I hope all goes well, I don't pray , but send my sincerest thoughts and good wishes. [and i'm sure everyone else at mudcat does as well] Good Luck. john |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: JennyO Date: 07 Oct 04 - 10:11 PM Best of luck, Kendall - thinking of both of you and sending good wishes and healing energy from Oz. Kendall, you may not be able to rant too much with your voice for a while, but you can rant here all you like, and it won't hurt your voice at all! Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's biopsy From: SINSULL Date: 07 Oct 04 - 10:23 PM Speaking softly???? Does that mean he has taken to carrying a big stick? Be afraid, Mudcatters! Be very afraid! |
