Subject: Lyr Req: To Morrow From: Muttley Date: 23 Mar 07 - 08:23 AM Ok I've 'Googled and 'D-T'd' this topic and I keep coming up with the version where the traveller is trying to get to 'Morrow' in the "State of Ohio". What I am lookinh for is the version where the traveller is trying to get to Morrow in County Mayo. In other words - the Irish version. If someone has these INCLUDING the CHORDS - I'd be VERY thankful Muttley |

Subject: ADD: To Morrow (Irish Version) From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 23 Mar 07 - 09:49 AM Here ya go: TO MORROW I started on a journey, about a year ago To a little town called Morrow in the county of Mayo I've never been a traveller, so I really didn't know That Morrow was the hardest place I'd ever try to go! I went down to the station, put my money on the desk Not meaning to cause trouble with my innocent request "Excuse me sir I'd like to go to Morrow and return No later than tomorrow, for I haven't time to burn." Said he to me, "now let me see if I have heard you right-- You'd like to go to Morrow and return tomorrow night" "You should have gone to Morrow yesterday and back today For the train today to Morrow is a mile upon its way.... "If you had gone to Morrow yesterday now don't you see You could have gone to Morrow and returned today at three. For the train today to Morrow, if the schedule is right Today it goes to Morrow and returns tomorrow night. Said I," My friend, it seems to me you're talking through your hat Is there a town called Morrow on this line, or is there not?" "There is," said he, "but take from me a quiet little tip To go from here to Morrow is a fourteen hour trip. "Said I," I've got to go to Morrow, can't I go today And get to Morrow by tonight if there is no delay?" Said he,"You cannot get to Morrow anymore today For the train that goes to Morrow is a mile upon its way!" I was so disappointed I was mad enough to swear, The train had gone to Morrow and it left me standing there. The man was right in tellin' me that I was a howlin' jay I could not go to Morrow, so I guess in town I'll stay. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: To Morrow From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 23 Mar 07 - 10:06 AM Why would he re-name the thread,FT? That is the title of the song that he requests. If it confuses anyone that is exactly what the song is intended to do. :-} Slainte, Sandy |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: To Morrow From: Susan of DT Date: 23 Mar 07 - 10:14 AM The Mayo one is almost identical to the Ohio one in the DT. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: To Morrow (County Mayo Irish Version) From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 23 Mar 07 - 03:57 PM I don't think Gibson or MacIntosh can take credit for writing it. It is old and in public domain I believe. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: To Morrow (County Mayo Irish Version) From: Muttley Date: 23 Mar 07 - 06:33 PM Sandy: Thanks from the bottom of my grubby little heart!!! And why should I have to rename the thread - I know there was one named 'To Morrow' - but this one was a "Lyrics Required" preface and brackets added to the title with extra info - I've seen other threads a LOT closer that weren't asked to change.
