Subject: Charlie Monroe's Banjoist, Willow Garden From: Steve Latimer Date: 24 Mar 07 - 09:33 PM I have a compilation CD with Willow Garden on it. The CD is Thirty Years of Bluegrass. It only lists Charlie Monroe as the artist. It does not have liner notes, so it does not list the band members. I have always wondered who played banjo on it. Can anyone help? |

Subject: RE: Charlie Monroe's Banjoist, Willow Garden From: Steve Latimer Date: 25 Mar 07 - 12:20 AM Thanks Michael, I'll have to listen to it again. Doesn't sound quite as polished to me as other Crowe recordings that I have heard. |

Subject: RE: Charlie Monroe's Banjoist, Willow Garden From: Steve Latimer Date: 26 Mar 07 - 01:12 AM Thanks for the replies guys. I also posted this question on the Banjo Hangout. Kenny Ingram is a member over there. He said that he did an album with Charlie in '73. I sent him an MP3 and he confirmed that it was him playing, that it was from a 1973 album titled Tally Ho. Unfortunately it is not available on CD. Jimmy Martin and Vassar Clements are also on the album. Others posted that they had an early sixties version and that it featured J.D. on banjo. I haven't heard this one. I really like the version that I have though. |
