Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 04 Apr 07 - 06:22 AM Parrots! Green ones. Initially so eye catching as they fly about in the trees, but......... There are apparently so many in parts of Kent and Sussex that they are talking of a cull. Do you have parrots where you are? There aren't any in Stevenage. |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 04 Apr 07 - 06:31 AM Yvonne keeps telling me there are loads of parrots in the function room sitting by the bar She tells me they get agitated everytime she sings What's that all about? Collar doves are quite popular in Barton Perhaps Wood Pigeons should join the RAF; as they are looking for kamikazi pilots |

There are lots of jokes doing the rounds here about the fact that the only woman on the boat just happened to be reading the maps. Another said they would not have been caught if she were driving, cos she would still be trying to reverse out of the parking space. I think I'll be sending a few more abroad if they keep it up. One way tickets to Bolivia are quite cheap at the moment. |

I went to Orpington Folk Club on Friday and had a nice evening. A man sung one of Yvonne's songs. I won a raffle prize. Well if the truth be told - nobody else wanted the third prize which was a box of Cadbury's creme eggs. So it was offered out to any takers and I was the only one. Wasn't that kind. |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 10 Apr 07 - 06:13 AM Corr - lucky you I got s Kit Kat easter egg and a mug It's Barton folk this week - all welcome The Globe tonight (10th) in Dunstable Messages from Theo at the Unicorn magazine A couple of messages that have come our way that may be of interest to you. Firstly, Pump House Clog Morris is a women's North West side, founded in June 1979. The group is for women dancers and mixed musicians and they meet at Pump House, Local Board Road, Watford, on Mondays at 8pm from September to May. During summer the group performs at various venues, and they are desperately looking for musicians (male or female) to join them, otherwise they may have to cancel some or all of their bookings planned for this summer. If you can help, please call Sue Rawlins on 01727 823791. Secondly, St. Neots Folk Club has a new venue as from this Tuesday (10th Apr), as the King's Head will be closed. From now on they will meet at The Priory Centre, St. Neots, which is situated on the banks of the River Ouse, close to the Market Square. For more information on the club call Patti Pitt on 01234 376278. |

Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 12 Apr 07 - 09:58 AM A recent scientific study found that women find different male faces attractive depending on where they are in their menstrual cycle. For example, when a woman is ovulating she will prefer a man with rugged, masculine features. However when she is menstruating, she prefers a man doused in petrol and set on fire, with scissors stuck in his eye and a cricket stump shoved up his arse. |

Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 17 Apr 07 - 08:40 AM Guest – 17.04.07 07.04 The pony was somersaulted through the air by an asshole in a car. The road through the village was closed for five hours. The vets fought to save the pony's life, but unfortunately she had to be put down at the side of the road. She was my 16 year old son's first pony and had been in the family for years. At the time she was being ridden by an 11 year old girl, who luckily was thrown clear. After all the trauma of the accident I sat with my friend on the grass verge with the dead body of the pony under a sheet, waiting for her to be collected. We were totally backed up by the police as having done absolutely nothing to have caused this accident. You have to be commended on having such a sunny disposition that you can find humour in this situation. Excuse me if I don't, infact I find anyone who can make jokes about such an event to a complete bastard. Ross, sorry to upset you usually jolly thread. I'll be back when I feel better. |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 17 Apr 07 - 09:05 AM I am sorry to hear your sad news PA. What a senseless accident. Is anyone going to The Globe tonight? I may go over a bit later on. |

Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 23 Apr 07 - 04:56 AM Hi everybody Welcome to another week It's a folk songs & tunes around the room this Wednesday All welcome |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 23 Apr 07 - 07:42 AM Hi everybody, I'm back again, in a better frame of mind this week. The driver who killed my pony has been charged with driving without due care and attention, careless driving and dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident, or a combination of all of them. The police think he could be banned. Personally I'm past caring, nothing will bring Sixpence back. However on a lighter note, I'm quite worried about my husband and also my friends father. My husband went out on Friday afternoon to purchase a sensible family car - yesterday he went back to the garage to test drive a Peugeot 307 cabriolet! My friends father is taking his motor bike driving test this week and is awaiting delivery of a motor bike the size of a small detached house! Is this a man thing? Help!!! |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 23 Apr 07 - 07:55 AM Hi PA Tell us more about their va va vrooms first. |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 23 Apr 07 - 08:18 AM Well at the moment we have a Rover, and its a bit of a squeeze when we go on holiday, so off we went to get a bigger car. First of all it was the Ford Focus cabriolet, but the girlie at the showroom could only say she couldnt hear the engine with the roof down cost she has her music everso loud, her auntie loved it and was going to get one - or was that an Astra? and it didnt blow her hair around as much as the Ford Puma (seriously Cathie this is the truth and no she was not blonde) After that we went to Vauxhall, but the cabriolet there belonged to the MD's wife so we couldnt look at it. So off we went to Peugeot to a nice man called Daniel. The rest is history !!!!!!!!!!!! I think's he's gone mad. John and the motor bike something else. He told Carol he was looking for another interest, other than gardening and golf, she thought computers or fishing - he thought motorbikes ! I'm off to scale mount everest back by teatime ! |

Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 23 Apr 07 - 10:20 AM Hi Martin The folk night sessions around the room are the 9th and 23rd May We get 15 to 20 people come along and it's a combination of tunes and songs - we go around the room giving everyone a chance It's very relaxed and generally a good laugh is had by all The 2nd, 16th and 30th are open mic nights and normally anything goes They can be a bit haphazard though, so we just about get double figures - there are more opportunities to do sets of three songs PA - slow down - it's only a Mudcat thread What's the odd Porshe/Lotus/Aston Martin matter; when you're in love |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 23 Apr 07 - 10:35 AM Ross, thats not very nice, you get 15-20 people in, they all sing and then you have a good laugh at them !! Where do you get these haphazard people! |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 23 Apr 07 - 10:48 AM Ah PA; that's a secret I'll reveal all tomorrow I'm tired and I wanna go home Where's that powerhouse Cathy gorn when you need her Have you seen the fashion pages in the Daily Mail today The lady in my office can't stop laughing The suggestion for party wear looks like a well groomed dustman |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 23 Apr 07 - 11:04 AM Oh, er, I'll just put me bin down then. Dont know where Cathie is, she was there a moment ago. Talking of missing persons, where's that Breeze bloke, he's quiet. ????? |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 23 Apr 07 - 01:32 PM Hi Nice to be missed. I was actually busy reading about St George and how he saved that poor damsel in distress. Did she ever speak to her father again? Georgy Porgy looked at her longingly and ran off to find other dragons, my book said. So where did he get his kicks? Breezy is appearing in Orpington on Friday and apparently at Herga tonight. He pops in and out of the mudcat cafe as a guest (not the one above - I know his typing, welsh keyboard, faulty caps). I feel the vibes. PA - I love your car showroom story, though I got a bit lost on the car makes - they have to be red or blue for me. I suppose I should just count my blessings that my husband just upgrades fishing rods and knows his bivvy is THE latest model on the lake side. Porch flaps, snore-proof, intruder alarm, surround-sound and patio lighting. |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 24 Apr 07 - 03:23 AM Didnt St George kill a dragon, is that why there are none left. Who was the bird he saved? Cathie how do you up grade a fishing rod? and what the devil is a bivvy??? Porch flaps and a snore-proof intruder alarm and the lighting and a patio, what on earth is all that about. Is this some strange southern custom? Is it code for a hidden sect. Talking of which my mates have just come back from swimming in/on? the barrier reef, in the photo they e/mailed they look like they're wearing wet suits but up close they actually look just like large black ladies tights - head to toe - no joke, with their shorts and diving equipment over the top. How odd is that. Going into a meeting,(snoorrrrrrr) back later. |

Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 03 May 07 - 09:52 AM The licks seemed to be what they called the pedal steel guitar bits between other bits, although there was some discussion, not heated debate you understand, about the correct terminology. It was all amicably resolved in the end and we worked out a measure of how much you love your man by how far you would push his amplifier down the road. |
Subject: RE: April things at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The Unicorn Man Date: 04 May 07 - 08:30 AM I am glad I went to Bedford. |
