I've just been playin' one of these little "Darlins'. I think it was the W400 model. I was absolutely knocked out by the thing.. Such a beautiful instrument. I reckon they come near or better the many a Martins I've ever laid my hands on... and I've played many.Any Info on these Guitars please..
As Aye,

Phil.

Not familiar with the guitars. Worth checking out.

When I saw "Suzuki," I immediately flashed on a website I ran across recently. The Suzuki Method applied to teaching guitar.

CLICKY.

Scroll down and check out the pictures of the little guys. Boy, I wish I'd got started at that age!

Aah've got one that aah bought in 1976 - Aah owny went in forra set of strings. Aah paid £126

It's been a delight everytime aah've picked it up - Ye wadn't knaah it wasn't a solid body.

Aah sold it once when aah gave up music but luckily the bloke aah selt it to lerruz buy it back.

Aah've been offered £400 for it but wadn't part wiv it again!

It's never had a refret and sings like it did on the first day aah bought it.

Aa've only ever seen two others - One wez a mate on board HMS Endurance and the other belonged to a bloke who was on the local folk circuit roond Portsmouth - aah offered him silly money AND a Takamine guitar with aall the electronic wizardry but he wadn't part wiv it.

Aah've seen and played other Suzuki Guitars (not 3S's) and they just divven't match up for sound and playability

Mebbe Suzuki were using identical bracing etc as the D28 it wez modelled on and MArtin threatened to sue! Anyway they divvent make them like that nee mair.

If ye decide ye divvent like it, PM uz will ye - Aah'd still love te hev a matching pair!

Hi Geordie, Glad to know that you know what I'm talkin' about!! Unfortunately the Guitars not mine to sell and I know me mate would never part with it... He bought it up in Amsterdam in the Eighties. He mentioned that Iris Dement during the Trans-Atlantic sessions was playing a Martin of which the 3S seemed to be a near a perfect copy..That would add creadence to story that Martin threatened to sue.. And he like you has been looking for another but to no avail.. So is life.
As Aye,
Phil.

Tell ye what Scouse!!

Tell your mate to leave it te me in his will and aah'll dee the same for him, then whoever gans forst will've done the decent thing!

In aall seriousness, aah'm not surprised - they are like Rockin' horse Sh*t and a beautiful instrument

Aa've played mine in all different bands from folk to Heavy Mental (Right spellin') It's even done a residency in a strip club and it's still me darlin'

I am currently living in japan and found an interesting version of the 3S - most of these have Suzuki on the head and 3S in the sound hole or vise versa - both of mine have 3S on the head AND the tag in the sound hole. One is a W-250, the other a W-300. From my understanding, the serial numbers have the first one or two characters as the manufacture date - the 250 is 78 and the 300 is 77. Bought them for about $90.00 each - Martin knock-offs for sure, but GREAT sound. I have a D28 (the ones you pay way too much for) and the 3S is 'almost' equal in sound quality - just love them!!!
