Subject: Cats Can Sing Again! From: Cats Date: 17 Apr 07 - 02:00 PM I have just got back from the hospital and have been discharged. YES!!!! I am allowed to start singing again and have been told to practice according to a strict sytem my SALT has devised, but, I am allowed to sing. Not having sung since last August, that's 8 months, and at one point it looking as if I might not sing again at all, this is wonderful news. Thanks to all you out there who have kept my spirits up and sent me messages and kind thoughts. It really helped. |

Subject: RE: Cats Can Sing Again! From: Snuffy Date: 17 Apr 07 - 07:27 PM Great news, Kathy. But be sure to stick to the system while you rebuild your vocal fitness and stamina. If you want to raise a lot of cash for the charities it might be wise to let Jon sing while the glass goes round! |

Subject: RE: Cats Can Sing Again! From: Bonecruncher Date: 17 Apr 07 - 08:46 PM Glad to hear your news, Kathy. Hope to see (and hear) you soon, but in the meantime take things one step at a time! Knowing you, you are most likely to become over-excited with your new ability and will try to run, rather than walk. Luv, Colyn. |
Subject: RE: Cats Can Sing Again! From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 17 Apr 07 - 09:11 PM The Singing Cat (Stevie Smith) It was a little captive cat Upon a crowded train His mistress takes him from his box To ease his fretful pain. She holds him tight upon her knee The graceful animal And all the people look at him He is so beautiful. But oh he pricks and oh he prods And turns upon her knee Then lifteth up his innocent voice In plaintive melody. He lifteth up his innocent voice He lifteth up, he singeth And to each human countenance A smile of grace he bringeth. He lifteth up his innocent paw Upon her breast he clingeth And everybody cries, Behold The cat, the cat that singeth. He lifteth up his innocent voice He lifteth up, he singeth And all the people warm themselves In the love his beauty bringeth. |

Subject: RE: Cats Can Sing Again! From: Polly Squeezebox Date: 18 Apr 07 - 05:00 PM We're really pleased for you, Cats - Jack would have been so unhappy to miss his private recitals you do for him! (And the more public ones) Other good news is that I was told by the surgeon and physiotherapist two weeks ago that I can start to dance again. After six months of forced immobility and having 'given it a go' I can back up the advice not to try to do too much at once - it hurts! See you at F&H but I don't think I'll be making it up to the tor! What's the charity this year? Polly |

Subject: RE: Cats Can Sing Again! From: Crowdercref Date: 19 Apr 07 - 06:18 PM I'm delighted for you and for all of us. Please take the sound advice (oops sorry) of your many friends and work the voice in gently. You know the sort of thing - an oil change after 500 miles, check the torques on the cylinder head, thereafter gently increase rpm used in each gear. Don't over-rev and do not slip the clutch. oll an gwella! Crowdercref p.s. off thread just wrote new song. |
