Let the banned people back and bring it to life again for Gawd's Sake!

WHAT is going on, on that board these days?

Very little!

Bloody APPALLING!!!

And you know why?

Because there is SO MUCH going on OUT HERE and it's NOT being spoken about on that board anymore!!!!

SHEESH!!!

Lizzie...(Aaarrggggghhhh! Smiley)

And no...this isn't to 'start a fight' this is to highlight the crying shame of how the BBC board has become because of the idiotic decisions and 1984 style rulings they now have on there..#

This is the thread that's so incensed me!

The BBC board

And do you know why? Because that will be filled with some people who never post about folk music, but only to have a 'dig'.

So why don't some of you from over here, also pay a visit over there and talk about all the wonderful music and talented people, both older AND younger, who so need support and to be spoken about on that board?

Just a thought.. :0)

Exactly right Lizzie - we are out at festivals and listening to live music. Why would we want to talk about it on the BBC board?

That would be the same BBC - one of whose presenters trashed a good programme about Morris dancing, and the same BBC that have just axed another folk show. And the same BBc that put out the Mike Harding Show.

You have to realise that the BBC board is not the cutting edge of folk music.

Anyway I thought you had left the country and gone to Canada.

Please do not feel the necessity to reply to this post.

Dave Eyre

I presume folks here are aware of the ludicrous antics of the BBC Folk Forum moderators?

Yes, there is considerable inconsistency in the clearing off of racist, sexist and homophobic drivel.

Apparently according to the BBC their message boards arent for the benefit of the postees they are for the producers to fool themselves that they have their finger on the pulse

I agree. It is quite noticeable that the place becomes much more useful over bank holidays when most of the mods are off. Then they come back on the Tuesday and mess the place up in their inimitable fashion.

Fortunately there other places. Like this one.

Have any of the USA posters seen Richard Shindell on his recent tour? No live recordings have surfaced that I have seen, but one or more gigs may have been recorded by local radio stations and made available by streaming from their website.

Ah ha, Lizzie, can't resist going back for a peek to see if anyone's talking about you? Must be a bit like reading your own obituary. Actually, I do miss some of the info you posted but not the long tirades.

I suppose there is some poetic justice in referring to it as the F&A Board, and some people might actually catch on to the word play; but I changed the thread title to BBC Folk & Acoustic Board, so people outside a small circle might have half a chance of figuring out what the thread is about.
I combined the two threads and their titles because one thread was drawing a lot of Spam.

I have posted on the BBC board on and off for six years. Back then it was a quieter place, and we mostly knew each other in real life - there was even an attempted meet up at Sidmouth one year. It consisted of intelligent discussion that moderated itself and crucially everyone had respect for each other, even if they disagreed.

Sorry, the BBC board is better off without you Lizzie. Its better off without Walksaboutverse too, and when Uncle Boko gets banned - which he inevitably will very soon - I will be glad.

If that sounds harsh, well, it is. But thats what I think.
