Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: GUEST,jj Date: 16 Jul 07 - 04:52 AM Where can i get a programme from? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: gnomad Date: 16 Jul 07 - 05:04 AM Whitby FF Site A quick scan didn't seem to mention programmes, but there are contact details. The programmes are usually on sale around the town by now, though I haven't yet seen one [been rather busy]. If you were to arrive without one the festival office would certainly be able to oblige, and so would many shops/pubs, as a rule. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: Surreysinger Date: 16 Jul 07 - 07:54 PM The festival newsletter came out at the end of last week - stating that programmes are available (if you've got your ticket) for 60p stamped addressed envelope A5ish size sent to the Whitby Festival office address - I'm pretty sure that there are instructions on the website of how to get hold of them. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: cosmic Date: 17 Jul 07 - 06:23 AM Abba Ceildh I am afriad it is in the news letter john have you read it? |

Have a great Folking time and spare a fiver for the kiddy winkles. Cheers Tim |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: John Routledge Date: 17 Jul 07 - 11:18 AM The latest newsletter gives the announcement of an ABBA ceilidh on an as yet undetermined night I think that the key is the reference to coming along in 70's/80s gear This seems to indicate an "ABBA" fancy dress ceilidh rather than an ABBA music ceilidh. I certainly hope so :0) |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: selby Date: 18 Jul 07 - 02:28 AM Me I wonder if the Abba thing will be before Shagpile on Wednesday night |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: Sue the Borderer Date: 18 Jul 07 - 05:11 AM There are two addresses for the festival on the web-site. To get the programme the one where you need to send your A5sae (60p) is PO Box 137, Queensbury, Bradford BD13 1WS I'm told it's not actually available yet. Don't forget to give your booking number, since the programme is only free to season ticket holders. Sue |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: Surreysinger Date: 18 Jul 07 - 05:31 AM I thought the newsletter which came out last week suggested otherwise Sue ... mind you I haven't re-read it yet to double check |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: Surreysinger Date: 18 Jul 07 - 05:05 PM Just checked the newsletter, and yes it does say "available now". |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: GUEST,jj Date: 18 Jul 07 - 06:33 PM As well as the programme, if anyone has any directions or can recommend activities or places that will be worth doing/visiting etc - it would be a great help. Thanks for your help so far - look forward to meeting you all |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: Sue the Borderer Date: 18 Jul 07 - 07:37 PM Hi Surreysinger I rang the Festival enquiries office about 5 mins before I wrote the post above. They said the prog wasn't available yet but to send the envelope in ready. Either they were a bit ahead of themselves when they printed the newsletter or the two offices aren't in contact. (The address I was told to use is the ticket office.) And, guest jj, it's hard to recommend things without knowing what sort of thing you're looking for. Sue |

Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: gnomad Date: 26 Jul 07 - 05:35 PM Re programmes: I went into a couple of Whitby shops today, which have previously sold the programmes; no sign of them and one shopkeeper said that they haven't yet been delivered. As a side-issue, the posters are not out in large numbers. Despite looking for them I have spotted only two. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: Raggytash Date: 27 Jul 07 - 03:25 AM Hi Gnomad, there are numerous posters about but the colouring doesn't particularly make them stand out and there doesn't seem to be as many as previous years. |

Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: alanww Date: 31 Jul 07 - 12:57 PM Well, that's completely c*ck*d it up then! My solicitor has just told me that my house move, which had been planned for Wed 15 Aug and which might have meant that I could get to Whitby for at least a few days, has now been put back to Wed 22 Aug - right in the middle of Whitby Week. Oh b*gg*r! Please spare a thought for poor little old me doing my last minute packing, moving to my new abode and then unpacking everything while you are all having a great time! But don't spend too long at it, enjoy yourselves! I'll see you all in 2008! And that's a promise! "I thought I heard the old man say!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: GUEST,Northern Eye Date: 31 Jul 07 - 04:47 PM Easy ring solicitor and put off till 29th --be there. Where's our programmes ?, when Malc was running ship they would be here now. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: LesB Date: 01 Aug 07 - 02:24 PM Still no program arrived! The website declares that programs are now available. There is a downloadable prog on the website, which I havn't printed off (66 pages). First look & my initial reaction is 'Wot no George Garsides slow & easy sessions' and 'hells teeth! the N/W, Longsword, clog & Irish set dance workshops are all on at the same time'. It doesn't say where the events are either. Anyway i'm sure that the printed prog will arrive soon. (i hope) Cheers Les |

Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! Perhaps we can recruit Eliza too and have FIVE fiddles! Anahata |

From: Surreysinger Date: 02 Aug 07 - 02:33 PM Still not got my programme down here - sent off for it nearly two weeks ago... no doubt it'll arrive while I'm at Sidmouth. Anahata - I'm confused ... are the Dan Quinn all-stars doing the Abba ceilidh ... or being Shagpile ... or .... ??? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week 2007! From: treewind Date: 02 Aug 07 - 02:54 PM Dan Quinn all stars ceilidh first, then Shagpile doing their thing Have not received any instructions to be Abba! I think the Abba thing mus be on a different night Anahata |
