Whitby FF Site A quick scan didn't seem to mention programmes, but there are contact details.

The programmes are usually on sale around the town by now, though I haven't yet seen one [been rather busy]. If you were to arrive without one the festival office would certainly be able to oblige, and so would many shops/pubs, as a rule.

The festival newsletter came out at the end of last week - stating that programmes are available (if you've got your ticket) for 60p stamped addressed envelope A5ish size sent to the Whitby Festival office address - I'm pretty sure that there are instructions on the website of how to get hold of them.

The latest newsletter gives the announcement of an ABBA ceilidh on an as yet undetermined night

I think that the key is the reference to coming along in 70's/80s gear This seems to indicate an "ABBA" fancy dress ceilidh rather than an ABBA music ceilidh.
I certainly hope so :0)

There are two addresses for the festival on the web-site. To get the programme the one where you need to send your A5sae (60p) is PO Box 137, Queensbury, Bradford BD13 1WS

I'm told it's not actually available yet. Don't forget to give your booking number, since the programme is only free to season ticket holders.

Hi Surreysinger
I rang the Festival enquiries office about 5 mins before I wrote the post above. They said the prog wasn't available yet but to send the envelope in ready.
Either they were a bit ahead of themselves when they printed the newsletter or the two offices aren't in contact. (The address I was told to use is the ticket office.)

And, guest jj, it's hard to recommend things without knowing what sort of thing you're looking for.

Sue

Re programmes: I went into a couple of Whitby shops today, which have previously sold the programmes; no sign of them and one shopkeeper said that they haven't yet been delivered.

As a side-issue, the posters are not out in large numbers. Despite looking for them I have spotted only two.

Well, that's completely c*ck*d it up then!
My solicitor has just told me that my house move, which had been planned for Wed 15 Aug and which might have meant that I could get to Whitby for at least a few days, has now been put back to Wed 22 Aug - right in the middle of Whitby Week.
Oh b*gg*r!
Please spare a thought for poor little old me doing my last minute packing, moving to my new abode and then unpacking everything while you are all having a great time! But don't spend too long at it, enjoy yourselves!
I'll see you all in 2008! And that's a promise!
"I thought I heard the old man say!"
Alan

Still no program arrived! The website declares that programs are now available. There is a downloadable prog on the website, which I havn't printed off (66 pages). First look & my initial reaction is 'Wot no George Garsides slow & easy sessions' and 'hells teeth! the N/W, Longsword, clog & Irish set dance workshops are all on at the same time'.
It doesn't say where the events are either. Anyway i'm sure that the printed prog will arrive soon. (i hope)
Cheers

ABBA thing not before Shagpile on Wed night - that's going to be the Dan Quinn All Stars ceilidh band, with Pete Cooper, Paul Burgess, Matt Quinn and Jon Boden on fiddle, Dan Quinn on melodeon, Simon Ritchie on drums, me on cello and Mary Humphreys on piano.

Perhaps we can recruit Eliza too and have FIVE fiddles!
