Well yes I suppose so.

But it is really about the artist (or his agent!!!!) having control over published material isn't it?

Whether they state them on the ticket or not; all those conditions are legal (in the US) at least - and most are common sense and common politeness.

Brilliant concert, but insane security monkeys.

The audience mainly consisted of responsible adults aged I'd guess between 50 and 70, with some younger. So why does the Dome Theatre deem it necessary to employ numerous security men inside the auditorium, thus creating a very opressive atmosphere. Perhaps if they reallocated money spent on this to providing more lavatories........where the queues were very long!

Ritchie Blackmore is a superb musician, playing an f holed semi accoustic for all songs except one, for which he used a white stratocaster. The band played for 2 hrs and 10 minutes, together with a great set from a medieval band from the Czech Republic - the lady who made announcements spoke with impeccable English!!!

Little did I imagine that the skinny young guitarist I saw in Lord Sutch's Savages in 1962 would progress into the wonderful musician he is today - and Candice is a fine singer too!

Uncle B

As I work there I can tell you that the number of Security persons were as requested (and paid for) by the Promoter/Tour manager. These particular persons (one of them the mum of the female half !) were particularly stringent in their requirements.Even to the extent of having a security person in the "wings" on each side of the stage. From the Dome's point of view,if the show asks and pays for all this that's what they will get.

Were the people who annoyed you actually S.I.A. licensed "Door Supervisors"?

Other bodies working F.O.H. will have been "Stewards" as required by Licensing Authorities.

Sorry you found the atmosphere uncomfortable. If you are really peeved by what happened you could write to the Dome management or PM me here and I will pass your complaint on.

It begs the question - "what was to be achieved by these people? what did the tour promoter expect to happen? Did he not want people to stand up and enjoy themselves?" Or is it just the hideous English way of doing things now. It reeked of prefects in the school hall - well at QE Boys Barnet between 1957 and 1964 anyway!!!

Ah, and of course there is always money to be made when costs are passed on to the client!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have spoken to one of the SIA team he tells me that there were 5 "security" men on last night 1 on each of the Street doors ,1 each side of the stage (in the wings) and 1 "mobile" in the Auditorium.

I don't see that as an overpowering number given the number of people in the audience.

The will have been a greater number Dome Stewards (like you need at a festival) who will have been checking tix, manning Auditorium doors, showing to seats etc but more importantly marshaling people out in the event of and emergency. It is this last aspect that the Local Authority stipulates the numbers for.

Between ourselves (and I don't say I told you) The tour manager/promoter was one of the most paranoid people we have had to deal with in a long time.

Now if the security / steward team caused you a problem (attitude, rudeness or whatever) it may be possible to correct things for the future but if it is the numbers alone you object to there will not be much that can be done (licensing issues etc)

It was the men in white shirts that we objected to, one in a chair right of stage who seemed to be asleep half the time and up to 2 others who frequently stood to the far right of row U, where we were seated, who permanently looked ready to pounce - on whom, for what?? There was also a very angry looking man either in a black suit or black shirt who was moving about all the time, whom we found most intimidating and a distraction.

That said, the concert sound was of the best I have ever heard anywhere.
