Subject: Thankyou Max From: Sam Pirt Date: 12 Apr 99 - 09:07 AM I think its about time that Mudcatters recognised how lucky they are to have mudcat and said, thankyou Max's April fool thread (which I've just been reading) brought it home how lucky we are to have a community like mudcat. I though lots of quite bad and selfish things were said to Max so I wanted to redress the balance by doing this thread. People always tell you about the things that you could improve but I think its about time we told Max what we like about mudcat and what its done for us! Go on tell Max! Max, I first started singing a week ago and I just thought I would say thinkyou because I got my first song EVER of mudcat! (Greenland Fisheries) I think its first performance will be next week. Cheers, and thanks Bye, Sam |

Subject: RE: Thankyou Max From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 12 Apr 99 - 07:30 PM Max, Thanks!! I came to the Mudcat to find out the gauges of Lead Belly's guitar strings. And I did get that information. But I began reading threads and just have a wonderful time. I found I have a large amount of information that other people can use. I also have a source that can answer almost any question I might have about folk music and the blues. Just this weekend, I performed the Old Dun Cow and The Key of R to wondrous audience response. I did the Key of R acapella (Latin for "I haven't learned the chords"). I suspect they are keepers. I have you and the Mudcat to thank for those songs, of which I had never heard until I scanned the 'Cat. I have also joined multiple discussions to share my opinions about various issues and I have enjoyed others postings and opinions as well. I have been on for a year and truly cannot get enough Mudcat. I believe I have posted elsewhere's that I forgive Max, but I also want to say I'm sorry if I 'caused Max any distress with my complaint. I remain in awe of Max's, Susan's, and Dick's work (along with Max's minions as well). Thank you, thank you, thank you! I try to make my thank you's tangible as well. I have ordered numerous CD's and books through the Support the Mudcat links and I've sent in my money for the next month or so. I say this not to brag or to be self-important, but simply to serve as a model for others who may enjoy the 'Cat as much as I do. Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: Thankyou Max From: Ferrara Date: 13 Apr 99 - 12:06 AM Well, all that stuff that they said so well, that all goes for me too, Max. I'm learning songs at an incredibly fast rate these days, thanks to the Mudcat. People ask for a song, the words are posted, and I say, "Oh, yes, I like that song, too!" and I throw it into my word processor, print it and start singing it. I printed out the threads on vocal techniques and I think the advice in them is helping my singing. Max, I do very much hope you're going to be able to come to the Getaway. I promise I was just kidding, and hoped you would take it as teasing and not aggression, with regard to the promise of yellowjackets in your sleeping bag. (NOI) I'm planning to buy a Mudcat t-shirt ASAP because there are so many opportunities these days to meet other Mudcatters. I don't know how many times I've told BIll, and anyone else who will stop to listen, that Mudcat is not only a community, it's a technical marvel. That's your doing. Thanks. |
