Subject: New folk club near Ashford, Kent From: Dave Masterson Date: 04 Jul 07 - 04:18 AM Eileen and I found a new club that has just started at the Mundy Bois (pronounced boys) pub between Pluckley and Egerton, on the last Tuesday of the month. Anything goes - song, music, poetry - wise etc, much along the lines of the Shammick Acoustic sessions run by Tom & Barbara Brown. Run by a really friendly bunch, most of whom belong to the local amdram group. Mundy Bois pub website |

Subject: RE: New folk club near Ashford, Kent From: concertina ceol Date: 05 Jul 07 - 03:47 AM OOooo indeed! Something happening South of the Medway! Hurrah! Can't make 31st but please keep posting new dates on mudcat. Good stuff :-) I know some other folkies that may be tempted to come your way as well so I'll pass the details on. On a pedants note, surely Bois is pronounced "Bwa" - french for woodland or similar? Spot the French student! |
Subject: RE: New folk club near Ashford, Kent From: Dave Masterson Date: 05 Jul 07 - 05:06 AM Being a similarly educated and refined sort of chap, that's what I thought, but apparently not. I suppose if you're a Weald of Kent farm labourer it's 'boys', so boys it is. Will certainly post future dates. |

Subject: RE: New folk club near Ashford, Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 05 Jul 07 - 01:27 PM Well, we English don't call it Paree, do we? I gather that pubs named the Ypres, after the salient, are usually pronounced "Wipers" locally, too. And what about Les Cousins, the long lamented folk cellar in London? |
