All I know is this line,

"The nights are long
My arms are empty"

It's a slow country song, maybe from the forties or fifties, sung by a man. Any ideas?

The only song I can think of offhand with the line " ...nights are long ... " is "My Buddy," but it doesn't have your second line.

Thanks Don, but unfortunately that's not it. The words are there, but in the wrong order. It's got to be another song.

"The nights are long,
My arms are empty"

I can hear those two lines in my head, but I just don't know any more of it than that. ARRRGGGHHH!

Sorry, Peace, I wish I could, but I never heard the whole song.

I heard just those two lines in passing and wrote them down because the tune intrigued me. It sounded slow and mournful.

I knew it was a long shot, but I appreciate the time and effort you've spent trying to locate it for me.

has the lines
'Oh the days will be empty/The nights so long/Without you my love' at the start of the second verse.
