Subject: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: celticjohn Date: 27 Aug 07 - 02:52 PM Does anyone have the music, (chords or tab) for Bonnie Moorhen, please? |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: Leadfingers Date: 27 Aug 07 - 02:56 PM Moira Craig sings it beautifully - try a PM to Trayton . |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: Jim McLean Date: 27 Aug 07 - 03:49 PM I recorded it with Alastair McDonald on a NEVIS LP 101, 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' about 1974(?). It may have been re-released. I'll dig into it for you when I can (if someone doesn't do it first). |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: Jim McLean Date: 27 Aug 07 - 04:02 PM celticjohn, I've had a quick look at my records and I have a rather poor casette reocrding of Alastair singing The Bonnie Moorhen which you can have if you email me at JawMac@aol.com. I found the original in Hogg's Jacobite Relics, song number 77 and I could also email you a scan of the page if you like. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 27 Aug 07 - 08:54 PM Well, quite a lot of people have recorded it over the years. For some suggested chords and abc notation (which can be converted to staff at various places such as http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html), see thread Bonny Moorhen. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: alison Date: 28 Aug 07 - 03:54 AM The tune is also called The Laird o'Cockpen not sure if this is the right version - my computer is refusing to play midis at the moment. slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: Mary Humphreys Date: 28 Aug 07 - 11:47 AM If you want to hear it done superbly well, come to a CHARM concert, when Carolyn Robson, Moira Craig and Sarah Morgan ( CMR) sing it with spine-tingling harmonies! They may even have recorded it - Google for it on the web. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: Leadfingers Date: 28 Aug 07 - 11:58 AM Alison - That is the tune Moira Craig sings it to - But quite a lot slower . |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bonnie Moorhen From: celticjohn Date: 05 Sep 07 - 02:48 PM Many thanks for all the helpful suggestions!! |
