I understand that there is a proposed Tullamore by pass,which will go right through the castle grounds and ruin the camp site and future Fleadhs.

The proposed by-pass only patiucally passses throughteh grounds and is and along the exixting routeway. It will not be anywhere near where the campiste was.

I was there over the weekend, as mentioned on this site.
   
Had a great time--never saw so many musicians in one place. There are 27 pubs in the town, and every one had on average two sessions, plus another outside, plus street sessions every couple of hundred yards, not to mention music in the square, hotels, B&B's, etc. In the pub where I spent most of the Monday (ie, 1 PM to 1 AM), Lynche's, there were 30 musicians in the main session, whereas in the smaller session about 12, from Laois, Carlow, Dublin, Leitrim, Longford, Armagh and Offaly. We finished with a great singing session in De Brún's.

What I found particularly impressive was the number of youngsters and teenagers to be seen everywhere, playing great music and singing.


Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will be held again in Tullamore next year. It might be worth while getting a group of Mudcatters together to meet up there, such as is done for the various gatherings.

DONT WORRY GUYS.THE CAMPSITE HAS BEEN DISCOVERED TO BE THE HABITAT OF A VERY RARE AND ENDANGERED SPECIES OF FROG---MAGNUS LEPIDUS CANINILIOUS---A MEDIUM SIZED FROG WHICH BARKS---ESPECIALLY AT MATING TIME.SO THERE IS A PRESERVATION ORDER ON THE SITE AND THE PROPOSED NEW ROAD HAS HAD TO BE RE-ROUTED.
