Trying to find the words to old Irish song, "Resin the Bow."

I've seen an Irish version and would prefer the American version which I think is around.

Search the DT for "rosin", I presume this is the Irish version you spoke about. I'll look for other versions - many, many songs use this melody.

As far as I can tell, Rosin the Beau (or Rosin the Bow) originated on this side of the pond, and migrated all over. A fine, fine tune.

Durning Abraham Linclon's campain Jesse Hutchinson, a member of the Hutchinson Family Singers, wrote the to words to "Lincoln & Liberty" in 1860, which turned out to be Lincoln's most effective campain song. The source for Jesse's tune is quoted to be taken from the Irish song "Rosin The Beau". Another of the many songs that use the same tune would be Acres Of Clams.

In East Tennessee the old folks sang a ballad called "The Willow Garden", or "Rose Connelly," and it was set to the same tune.

There have been literally hundreds of songs to that: the most recent I can think of was Roy Acuff's Wreck on the Highway.
