We went last September and had a thoroughly wonderful weekend. It's really a singing, drinking and eating bash, all centred on the cowshed. Unfortunately you've missed the two Benders of this year, you'll have to wait until 2008. John |
Subject: RE: Black Bull Bender charity folk weekend From: nutty Date: 11 Sep 07 - 08:18 AM These weekends (there are now 2 each year) have been running for 26 years and were the brainchild of the Wilkinson Family who are folk enthusiasts and felt that there was no better way to raise money for charity than to run a weekend where the prime objective was to sing, make music and generally enjoy themselves with like minded people. The weekends take place in June and September on the Wilkinsons small-holding in a tiny hamlet on the North Yorks Moors. Last year almost £6000 was raised and shared between two local hospices, it looks as if this year has raised similar amounts. Presentations to he Charities will take place on Sunday 18th November at the White Hart at Mickleby, the venue of the Saturday Night Folk Club. So anyone wanting to make a weekend of it are very welcome. |
