One of the friendliest festivals I know, excellent venues, wonderful line-up AND there'll be a MudGather *grin*

Hi Yvonne, I've just checked the Banbury 'Ride a Cock Horse' Folk Club & unfortunately they're closed on Wednesday 10th as they'll all be preparing for their Festival. Sorry! Not sure about any others I'm afraid as I'm not local to Banbury.

Richard: The camping on the moon is supplemented by the minibus which does the rounds all weekend and is free to ticketholders which is a fantastic festival service!! Actually, the Hanwell Fields school is fantastic as a campsite with excellent facities & brilliant late night sings!! Well worth getting a ticket I reckon!! Anyway, you could always pop a pushbike in the van & sling a guitar over your shoulder.... couldn't you?

Kitty, Derek, Henry, and the Ducklets - Brill!!

Chris - you're booked, excellent!!! My name is up in lights too but only to run the MudGather I'm afraid *sigh* You'd best not be clashing with the Gather as I for one want to get along for a listen!

Brill - Capella are booked too (you really mustn't miss them) & so is Gilly Kemp (wuzzle - voice like an angel!) and looking at the guest list it's going to be hard to get to see everyone at the Festival - will try hard though!

We'll be there running the song session in the Town and Country club on the Saturday night Hope to see lots of 'catters there for a good sing! We're also running a song writing workshop at 3pm so I hope that doesn't mean we miss too much of the gather (and that we have an Audience!)

I'll be there. I expect to be running 'Herbaceous Border' from 4.15 outside the Mill - which probably clashes with the Mudgather. (Couldn't find a time for the gather on this thread)
It also probably means, Mr and Mrs Scarecrow, that I won't get to much if any of your songwriting workshop and you won't get to dance or play with us. Pity!

Latest news: Gather time should be around 3.30 - 6.30pm in the Town & Country Club on the Saturday. Hopefully Sue and her Herbaceous Borderers (this means you, AnnieCat & bubblyrat) will be able to get along and join us either before or after the dance sessions - we ought to be able to revive the weary dancers with Chocolate *grin*

Cllr: not sure what your timings are for your mixed session (presumably in the Reindeer) but as the Gather spans 3 hours, maybe you'll be able to get along at some point!

Geordie-Peorgie & the Lovely Shirl: we're ganna miss ye Man, can ye not pop in fer a bevvie? (apologies for the dreadful accent)

Mr & Mrs Scarecrow: We'll do our best to warm up the Town & Country for you and will try to clear up the remaining Chocolate before you start the evening Sing - it's a hard job, but someone's got to do it....

Seaking: I recall there being some hardy folks in tents at Hanwell Fields last year, but I have to say the indoor camping would probably be much more comfortable. See you early in the weekend for a quick Heron!

Phot & PoD: So glad you'll be at Banbury & hope you'll get to the Gather. Late night sessions at Hanwell Fields last year were fantastic!! The stewards seemed quite happy with the way we conducted ourselves (everyone was happy) & so hopefully it'll be the same this year. Brilliant acoustics in the hall at the school as I recall - or was that the Port? (ah yes, Bonecruncher - we'll be suitably equipped)

Fee Lock: Glad you'll be coming to Banbury, you'll have a Fab time, excellent dancing at this festival!! Accomodation at Hanwell fields (take a look at the information page on the website) is wonderful but I wouldn't call the distance to the town hall walkable from there, but then I'm not even fit enough to dance! But fear not, the free shuttle bus for ticketholders should be operating till all events have finished so there shouldn't be any problem for you getting back to the campsite at Hanwell Fields after the ceilidh.

Ok, so the Mudgather starts at 3.15 (ish if I recall last year) and it's preceded by a Fabulous Big Sing and followed by Ann & Dave's song session. Looks like the Town & Country is the place to be. But look at all the other things to do & people to see.... How are we going to be everywhere at once?

Newsflash from the Website:   POSTAL STRIKE

Because of a postal strike we are holding on to tickets purchased during the past week at the box office for collection on arrival. As far as possible we will be contacting those people who have bought them to inform them of this. If you have not heard from us, or your tickets have been held up in the post, please come to the Box Office and they will let you have your tickets if they are holding them or re-issue them if necessary. Directions to the campsite are available from the "Information" page.

MudGather (Saturday 13th) reminders:

All Welcome - not just MudCatters!

3.15 (ish - the Big Sing runs away with itself) till 6.30 for Stalwarts - do drop in sometime!

Place: Town & Country Club - at the Wetherspoons end of town (on the way to the White Lady which is well worth a look) & marked on map on website & program. Has access button on main door - you're welcome to press it. Otherwise go around the back to the car park, the door will probably be open for Smokers.

Smokers: please keep an eye out for wind direction so the smoke doesn't all come into the Gather - Thanks!!

Please bring Chocolate (Just checked the fridge and all seems to be well!!!!) & Raffle prizes (even white elephants) if possible!

MudRaffle - draw at about 5.30, leave your ticket with a trusted friend (??) if you can't be there at the draw.

Please let me know if you have to be somewhere else so I can divert the MadCat to you - and remind me if it looks like I've forgotten - my memory or lack of it is world famous *sigh*

As most of you will know this is a programmed event, but is non-ticketed. As with all Festivals the fringe is extremely important, but please do support the Festival proper (ie. buy a ticket) if you can!!

Well attended, considering how many Catters were performing at other venues at the time.... just about enough time to accommodate all the performers and the raffle. (We've told Wuzzle that the perennial raffle prize is to be returned by next Banbury at the latest, though it may be recycled next month at Bedworth.)

I'm just so sorry to have heard today that the Town and Country club (which has been such a very welcoming venue for the Banbury Mudgather) was burgled last night.

What a lovely Gather it was, and yes, JUST enough time to get around everyone Once!! Seems crazy for a 3 hour session, but we did have a fair few Catters & Potential Catters turn up. As we were coming up to Draw time I was scooping up Catters who still hadn't sung and didn't manage to get MalcBedworth & Gill to sing before they had to leave for duties, for which I apologise profusely. I hope I didn't miss too many others, more apologies if so. Can't believe I didn't notice the sultry Blonde by the Bar at the start, I'll never live that one down....

Thanks so much to all who came, and stayed! Boy, was there some talent in the room *grin* Oh, and lots of chocolate (hurrah)!! Did everyone enjoy the 'dog-poo' lookalike?

The MudRaffle raised £88 which I'll transfer into MudCat funds asap. Thanks so much to everyone who brought prizes & bought tickets and especially to my Right-hand Partner in Crime, the lovely Selchie-(RS).

I'll pop the register on here in a couple of days when I've caught up with other stuff.

Awful that the Town & Country was robbed that night!! I understand that the cash from the machines & pool tables was taken & that the thieves vandalised the place too. Hope they get what they deserve. Our Hosts were Fabulous & looked after us all really well on the Friday & Saturday, even to the extent of providing free food - as they did last year I recall.

Major thanks to Merek'n'Dary and all their hard-working Elves for another Fine Banbury Festival, keep up the good work!

BTW, I managed to mislay a denim shirt (pale denim with an off-white corduroy collar, designer label on the inside) at Saturdays late night sing at Hanwell. Colin didn't find it on clear-up so we figured someone might have picked it up to pass on to me, anyone any ideas?

I had a great time - the Mudgather, the late night singing, sessions in the Reindeer and the T & C ... gave me the chance to practice for a couple of my rare gigs over the next 2 or 3 weeks!

I will really miss coming next year (can't really dodge my daughter's wedding, though).

I know we'll all be meeting up again at Crediton or Miskin, , or Chippenham, or Sidmouth, Dartmoor, Bideford ...
