Not long now to Banbury Festival, 12th-14th October - Here's their web-site!

One of the friendliest festivals I know, excellent venues, wonderful line-up AND there'll be a MudGather *grin*

So, who's coming to Banbury???

Hi Yvonne, I've just checked the Banbury 'Ride a Cock Horse' Folk Club & unfortunately they're closed on Wednesday 10th as they'll all be preparing for their Festival. Sorry! Not sure about any others I'm afraid as I'm not local to Banbury.

Richard: The camping on the moon is supplemented by the minibus which does the rounds all weekend and is free to ticketholders which is a fantastic festival service!! Actually, the Hanwell Fields school is fantastic as a campsite with excellent facities & brilliant late night sings!! Well worth getting a ticket I reckon!! Anyway, you could always pop a pushbike in the van & sling a guitar over your shoulder.... couldn't you?

Kitty, Derek, Henry, and the Ducklets - Brill!!

Chris - you're booked, excellent!!! My name is up in lights too but only to run the MudGather I'm afraid *sigh* You'd best not be clashing with the Gather as I for one want to get along for a listen!

Now Jane, what sort of a question is that?? Does a bear.....?

Anyone up to bringing a prize or so for a MudRaffle? Proceeds would be to MudCat of course!!

Hi Hils
Lesley & I will be there again this year I'm pleased to say and we're looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Thanks for the DVD of the party, it's brilliant! Richard seems to have a real talent for film making and we loved all his little comments on it.

See you there

Tony & Lesley XX

Tony & Lesley: glad you got it OK, good memories!

Brill - Capella are booked too (you really mustn't miss them) & so is Gilly Kemp (wuzzle - voice like an angel!) and looking at the guest list it's going to be hard to get to see everyone at the Festival - will try hard though!

So, who's bringing chocolate to the Gather? Anyone creating new delicacies for us to try this year?

Don't know about chocolate, but I'll have my cocoa in my 'van, along with my Pussers.
After all, I'll become a pensioner that weekend so no more late nights, excessive drinking etc. Early to bed, and all that!
(Some hopes!)

Colyn.

We'll be there running the song session in the Town and Country club on the Saturday night Hope to see lots of 'catters there for a good sing! We're also running a song writing workshop at 3pm so I hope that doesn't mean we miss too much of the gather (and that we have an Audience!)
See you all then

I'll be there. I expect to be running 'Herbaceous Border' from 4.15 outside the Mill - which probably clashes with the Mudgather. (Couldn't find a time for the gather on this thread)
It also probably means, Mr and Mrs Scarecrow, that I won't get to much if any of your songwriting workshop and you won't get to dance or play with us. Pity!

Latest news: Gather time should be around 3.30 - 6.30pm in the Town & Country Club on the Saturday. Hopefully Sue and her Herbaceous Borderers (this means you, AnnieCat & bubblyrat) will be able to get along and join us either before or after the dance sessions - we ought to be able to revive the weary dancers with Chocolate *grin*

Cllr: not sure what your timings are for your mixed session (presumably in the Reindeer) but as the Gather spans 3 hours, maybe you'll be able to get along at some point!

Geordie-Peorgie & the Lovely Shirl: we're ganna miss ye Man, can ye not pop in fer a bevvie? (apologies for the dreadful accent)

Mr & Mrs Scarecrow: We'll do our best to warm up the Town & Country for you and will try to clear up the remaining Chocolate before you start the evening Sing - it's a hard job, but someone's got to do it....

Seaking: I recall there being some hardy folks in tents at Hanwell Fields last year, but I have to say the indoor camping would probably be much more comfortable. See you early in the weekend for a quick Heron!

Phot & PoD: So glad you'll be at Banbury & hope you'll get to the Gather. Late night sessions at Hanwell Fields last year were fantastic!! The stewards seemed quite happy with the way we conducted ourselves (everyone was happy) & so hopefully it'll be the same this year. Brilliant acoustics in the hall at the school as I recall - or was that the Port? (ah yes, Bonecruncher - we'll be suitably equipped)

Fee Lock: Glad you'll be coming to Banbury, you'll have a Fab time, excellent dancing at this festival!! Accomodation at Hanwell fields (take a look at the information page on the website) is wonderful but I wouldn't call the distance to the town hall walkable from there, but then I'm not even fit enough to dance! But fear not, the free shuttle bus for ticketholders should be operating till all events have finished so there shouldn't be any problem for you getting back to the campsite at Hanwell Fields after the ceilidh.

Hope you're all collecting your Chocolate & Raffle Prizes!!!

I'll be driving the survivors session on Sunday afternoon among other things.

Any specialist chocs this year? - celery? - sweet chilli? - anchovy?

Finally worked out how to do this.May not be a mudcat virgin anymore, but have a bit of experience to gain! The withdrawal symptoms after the Wareham Wail were too great, Banbury was the only cure!Hilary & Chris, glad you 2 don't clash coz I don't know how I would've chosen between chocolate & Angels.Hilary, have tried coating various household objects in Green & Blacks, as u suggested at the Wail, to no avail, may I simply bring LOTS of CHOCOLATE?I owe Liz the Squeak a bar or 2 anyway, for services rendered at the Wail.Lking 4wd to a bit of Banburying,so many virginal experiences, so little time..so much CHOCOLATE...

Now that's what I call a program, wonderful!!! Well done to Merek'n'Dary and all the Banbury Elves, a lovely bit of organisation *grin*

Ok, so the Mudgather starts at 3.15 (ish if I recall last year) and it's preceded by a Fabulous Big Sing and followed by Ann & Dave's song session. Looks like the Town & Country is the place to be. But look at all the other things to do & people to see.... How are we going to be everywhere at once?

So CatsAll, we gonna have a MudRaffle, proceeds to the MudCat? C'mon, anyone able to bring a white elephant or so? I'll bring a few bits & pieces & I understand that the lovely Sechie - (RS) will be on hand once again to help keep the raffle in order *grin*

Petal of Florist: how lovely to see you here Girlie, looking forward to seeing you again at Banbury!!

Jane Dear: chocolate covered radishes???? That should be enough of a specialist product to satisfy the lovely Man of Splott!!

Yes Hils, am already having to breathe into paper bags a couple o times a day to cope with the excitement over Banbury.AND, have chosen my fave food to cover with CHOCOLATE for the mudgather (does 3 visits count as a mudcatter??)Glad Chris is getting his Heron out for you, can me & my friend come & watch? And why is it that every time I pass a crystal shop I still find myself plastered to the window by some kind of magical magnetic force, are you SURE you've taken the batteries out of that box?

Fee, are you a Banbury virgin too then?Look 4wd to c-ing you there. Are you camping or indoor? They'll be able to tell us manly outdoor campers by the slight blue tinge & the chattering teeth, methinks.Never mind, CHOCOLATE will cure that... Kaz

Anyone else discovered M&S new choccie, in time for Banbury? It's Lily's find of the year & dare I say, is the closest I've ever come to being unfaithful to my beloved Green & Blacks....

Colyn, think we met at the Wail??In fact are you the Colyn who bought one of Lily's cd's?Well,we'll know how to find you at Banbury, yours will be the van with the constant queue of people clutching their cocoa mugs!(Ah,but will it be Green & Blacks cocoa...??)

Oh Splotty, I was just getting used to the idea of not hearing the World-Famous Spoons orchestra, and now you'll not be there either *harumph* Still, nice to know they've got your visa sorted!

Colyn Dear:
Mudgather = chocolate covered stuff (singing, hugging, drinking, raffle etc)
Late Nite = stuff disguised as cocoa (singing, hugging, drinking, cheese & biscuits, no raffle)
Sorry for any confusion *grin*

Ah Petal (of Florist) good to see that you're really getting into the spirit of the chocolate enrobed goodies (still gagging with Jane's radish idea), looks like you'll make a fine MudGatherer. And as for watching Chris' Heron, we may even let you do it blindfolded!!!

Possible Catters at Gather (not to mention all those who haven't posted here, and there were lots last year):
