One of Oxford's, nay Yorkshire's, nay England's most loved and gifted singers is getting married and then emigrating to Canada. He will be sorely missed around these parts, but our loss is his fiancée's gain, likewise the folks over in Canada.

I'll be at his post wedding session, so if want your wishes to be passed on, add them here and I'll print them - it would be nice to add your real name of course and not your Mudcat moniker!

For my part, he has been inspirational and also encouraging. I just love his voice, his interpretation and his wit.

Best wishes to you Graham and your wife.

I'd heard of this just recently and it'll be hard to think of Oxford without Graham. But you can't let a town stand in the way of happiness. I just hope Canada's ready for him.

Best wishes Graham.

I haven't seen or heard Graham for years, but it is nice to know he will be on THIS side of the pond soon - However - What part of Canada - it is now the largest country in the World (See The Arrogant Worms song - It's Big!)

This is what happens when a man retires. Too much time on his hands.
I hear he's even had his beard trimmed. He'll be giving up smoking next.   (grin)

Seriously though - Graham is one of my favourite Yorkshire men and a fantastic singer. I wish him and his new partner all the best in their new life together.
So sorry that he will no more be venturing North for the January Winter Weekend.

Well in fact he gave up smoking some weeks back and he has had his hair cropped - the beard survives however.

I'll quiz him about where he will be living should I see him on Wednesday.

Saw him in concert with Ian Giles and Ian Wood in Oxford ( Holywell Music Rooms ) on Wednesday, and he was / they were FABULOUS !! He will be much missed at many venues , especially Straw Bear and wherever Miskin may be in future. A truly great singer, and a wonderful harmonica-player-----as someone said on Wednesday, he was John Spiers inspiration !!!

When I first heard I wondered what kind of a person it would take to lead Graham to take such a decision. But the moment I met Lucinde I knew instantly he got it right. Hard to explain after such a brief acquaintance, but they make an awful lot of sense together, and I know they will both be very happy.

It's shitty for us losing such a bloke from our midst, but it's the right thing. So let's not mope, let's just celebrate our good fortune to have met Graham, and his good fortune to have met Lucinde.

All power to you both, you looked on top of the world at Whitby, maybe see you at a festival or 2 before ye go.

Hi Graham Well you were an inspiration to me and my singing. I always remember the rumour that went around about you actually setting fire to someones lyrics---You always say that if a song is worth singing its worth learning.

A lesson we can all learn. Had many a lovely hug with you in the past and I will miss you sorely.

I am very chuffed for you both and hope to be there on Saturday for a last hug!

PS thanks for all the rollies you gave me from time to time as I never really smoked!!!!!

You've found the best reason to move on and we know that you'll make the most of a new life. ENJOY! (as i believe they say over there).
Your legacy will persist - along with a few strands of long grey hair - in many pubs in Oxford so please come back occasionally to top it up!

I am still getting over the shock of this announcement and the hangover from the do at the Victoria arms!    I first met Graham when he stepped in to help me erect my tent at Towersey about 20 years ago – I had a broken leg at the time. I have loved him and his singing ever since. It's good to see you looking so happy Graham and with such gorgeous wife!   We will miss your visits to Cornwall but wish you all the very best in Canada.
Thanks for a great do last night and for all your help, advice and songs over the years.

Our loss will definitely be Canada's gain. Hope you can teach 'em some proper songs tho' Graham!!
Hope to see you in Canada on our travels. You are a lucky man to have such a wonderful woman for your wife. Both 'go forth and prosper!'
Much love from Welsh Chris and Malc from Fir Tree Tavern days.

Graham - Hoped to catch you in the crowd at the bar at Whittlebury tonight to say all the appropriate things - but heard last night that you had a magnificent bash last week and you've gone already! (Can I have your corner?)

All best wishes to you both

John Garrick (sometime Fir Tree, S & A and sundry other Oxfordshire venues.)

All the very best, Graham, looks like you picked a good 'un. But sad to see you go - there's not so much of the Real Thing about that we can afford to lose even one!

Duncan--that's oot on the left coast. Best known as the setting for the old CBC TV series "The Beachcombers". Real estate is very pricey there by Canadian standards--you'll feel right at home!

Thanks for the promotion RTim, but even though "Canada's Really Big", even the Arrogant Worms admit, nay, celebrate our status as "The Second Largest Country". (Even with all the republics Russia has lost, it is still much larger in area.)

W-O

Welcome, Graham & Missus.
