Subject: Songs of imm/emigration From: fat B****rd Date: 21 Sep 07 - 08:43 AM My History studies at college are focussed at the moment on the the Irish settlers in Scotland (1840-1870) and the Scottish migration to America and other colonies (19th century in general). Also The influx of Italian and Lithuanian workers to Scotland for the same periods. I've decided to use quotes from any appropriate songs/ballads to illustrate my essays. Any assistance would be most appreciated. ATB from Charlie |

Subject: RE: Songs of imm/emigration From: GUEST Date: 21 Sep 07 - 04:35 PM i did emigration from Ireland for my dissertation also though the main focus was on America. Some ballads that i used were; "paddy's green shamrock shore" "by the hush" "the green fields of Canada" The shamrock shore" "thousands are sailing" & "skibbereen". Also John Moulden has written an excellent book on a similar theme called "thousands are sailing".
