On Saturday 28th September, Godalming Borough Hall ceilidhs will be hosting Peeping Tom,who have to be one of the most popular ceilidh bands on the folk dance circuit - and one of the most long-lived, this yearseeing their 30th anniversary. As probably the finest exponents of folk rock on the dance scene they have been described as the "Status Quo of English Ceilidh" and are just as enjoyable,
danceable and energetic.

To call the dances we're delighted to welcome back Pete Rees for the third time within twelve months.

Admission £10.00 (£9.00 members)
(Tickets £1.00 cheaper if purchased in advance - visit GBH Ceilidhs website to find out how!

Not back for another little snipe, Sam? I thought you were all about sharing the love across the miles...

I was having a joke. If you didn't get it, there was really no reason to contribute.

Now, back to Peeping Tom. Who are a great band - unlike Status Quo.

Look, love, no one takes your plagiarised websites or your mad pretendy "girlfriend" particularly seriously, either.

So let's just drop it and let people talk about Peeping Tom.

I thought that was what "we" were talking about, dearie...what I've found out about them is quite interesting and the comparison to Status Quo is accurate...but as I said, if that's what brings the punters out... :-)

"what I've found out about them..." from a paragraph on a website, no doubt. Very interesting, I'm sure. Definitely a substitute for firsthand knowledge. Have you seen the band? Danced to them? I wasn't aware they toured Canada...

But I bow to your superior knowledge.

A Sight For Sore Eyes and The Eyes Have It, both excellent records, I've owned them both from the time they were released, so, yes, you can say I've herd them... *LOL*

Now Be Thankful

no, I said you hadn't SEEN them. Or DANCED to them. Which you haven't.

They are a dance band. Listening to a CD is a tiny fraction of the experience.

well if they're half as good live as they are on record, then a really good time will be had by all, and I do hope I get the chance to see them, and have the FULL experience....

Now be Thankful

Gosh - go away for one day, and look what happens.

Never mind the Status Quo red herring - as Ruth quite rightly pointed out, Peeping Tom are a great band, and Pete Rees is also a great caller - so the sum total of that should be a fantastic night out for dancers on Saturday !!!

And I totally agree by the way that listening to a CD is only a tiny fraction of the experience. I find that CDs of dance bands are fun, but, as with most CDs, they can't provide the electricity or immediacy of the live event. And with a dance , although the music provides the bedrock of the experience, there is so much more involved....

Good grief, I feel a bout of eceilidh listmeister coughing disease coming on.
I suggest an exclusion zone around Surrey (and Sidmouth) and a cull of all nutters.
And a moratorium for the poor Peepers who do not deserve a 4-thumps-in-a-bar maligning in this inane thread.

Really surreysinger? This'll be why people could be interested - for the "so much more involved". What interesting ceilidhs you seem to have.....:-)
