Just along the road. So the first will be on Tuesday November 13th..
Look forward to seeing you there!

Here is Alan Castle's missive -

"Tenterden Folk Club is on the move again!

With immediate effect our regular monthly meetings will take place at The Woolpack Hotel in Tenterden High Street, next door to the Town Hall. We will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of every month gathering after 8.00 for an 8.30 start. The format will remain the same free, informal sing-a-round session in the bar. All singers, musicians, storytellers, poets, step dancers, etc are welcome to join us.

We are very grateful to Bob, the landlord, who is lodging a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) for the November folk club and expects to have live music added to his licence for December onwards.

The Woolpack is more like our old home of 15 years, the Eight Bells, in that it is a traditional English public house with plenty of character including wooden floors and beams. With the barn at the back, the marquee in the garden and the Town Hall next door The Woolpack is also ideally situated to be the centre point of the annual Tenterden Folk Festival. Also Bob regularly runs a real ale beer festival and hog roast for the festival.

I hope to see you all there on Tuesday 13 November.

Alan"

Note the Woolpack Landlord is getting a TEN for November so it would be nice if we had a good turnout to support him. Looking forward to it. I have to say these 'postmodern' pubs don't appeal to me. It's a bit like having a drink in an MFI showroom.

Yes, this is good news indeed, the Vine was just too stuffed up its own nose for my liking - when I asked *politely* if there was any chance of having the TV turned off, the manager went into a fair tirrade, and was nearly apopletic !

Woolpack is a much nicer venue, so long may it continue there, mayhap 15 years, like The Bell ???

Yes, indeed, the Woolpack was a pleasant if very full venue during the festival. The White Lion was very friendly and helpful. (Why does a lion of any colour need a saddlery?)

The good things about Festival singaround in the Vine were due to the singers and not in any way to the pub.

Yes, the Vine was a new guy committed by the old management. Doubt he'll last long. The woolpack is a much more congenial venue. Be good to see you, Richard! The White Lion saddlery is the recursor of the Jaguar garage...

Very good atmosphere last night. Room a bit small, but no less so than the effective space in the Eight Bells. Car parking restricted at the back (the town hall car park), so had to park behind The Vine (now there's irony for you!)
