I have always enjoyed Carla Sciaky's music. She is a brilliant songwriter and a gifted performer. I would like to get in touch with her for the possibility of her doinig a house concert for us at the Borderline in Rockland County. However, she has no website and I can not find an e-mail address. Does anybody know if she is still performing and if so how I can get in touch with her?

Hi, Sol - when I was in Denver in 1999, she was on the faculty of the school of music at the Swallow Hill Music Association there. I didn't see her listed on the faculty roster now, but I'll bet they could help you locate her. There's still a page on her at the Swallow Hill Website, so chances are good that she's still associated with them. There seems to be something wrong with the faculty roster page, and I couldn't get it to display for more than a few seconds. She's a wonderful musician and a very creative songwriter.

I am happy to report that Carla is back on the performing circuit again. She is now my friend on Myspace.

So far all of her scheduled dates are around the Denver area where she lives, but if she ever decides to come east to the NY area you know I am going to try to book her at The Borderline.

I remember her singing "I'm a Wimp," and introducing it with a story about getting a call from somebody at the corporation that made Hefty trash bags. I think she also did the songs of the three companions in The Wizard of Oz (If I Only Had a Brain/a Heart/Courage), but I may be confusing her with someone else. I'm glad she's performing again and I hope I get to see her.

Mudcat -

This is a question I can help with. Carla lives, teaches and performs here in the Denver area. She's stopping by our house today to help Marigold & Fred celebrate a 30-year April-Foolish anniversary.

I'll tell Carla that her fans are calling.

This is nice to see. I fell in love with "Many Roads" several years ago and sent her a letter asking permission to use it in a church service. Two weeks later, she called me to give her approval. Great writer and performer, lovely person as well.

Most of Carla's music is now available on iTunes.
