Hello everyone...

I decided to make a separate thread for this instead of just adding it to the Dusty Strings PermaThread, because my intuition is that a lot of 'Catters would want to know about it. Here goes:

Benefit Concert for the Butch Baldassari Medical Fund
Saturday, December 1, 7:30 p.m., $25
Dusty Strings Acoustic Music Shop, Seattle, WA
(206) (or toll-free 866) 634-1662

Butch Baldassari is a highly respected and well-loved mandolin player and teacher based in Nashville, who has recently been diagnosed with inoperable brain tumor and has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The music community has banded together to support Butch's recovery, and Dusty Strings is proud to host a benefit concert organized by world-class mandolinist John Reischman. This concert will feature jazz- and Brazilian-flavored original instrumentals by John Reischman and John Miller, acoustic blues by Orville Johnson, John Miller and Grant Dermody, and bluegrass and old-time music by John Reischman, Trisha Gagnon, and Nick Hornbuckle of the band John Reischman & the Jaybirds. All proceeds will go to the Butch Baldassari Medical Fund.

Visit www.mandolincafe.com and www.soundartrecordings.com for more information about Butch Baldassari.

Visit www.johnreischman.com , www.johnsonmilleranddermody.com and www.thejaybirds.com for more information on the performers.

(I tried to make blue clickies, but for some reason they didn't format properly.)
fixed them for you - el joe clone

Hope all you Puget Sound 'Catters can make it!

Cheers,

Molly

Thanks again! I really hope we get a good turnout for this.

People who can't make it to the concert, but want to give Butch their support, can also make direct donations to the Medical Fund via the Mandolin Cafe (www.mandolincafe.com).

Cheerio,

Molly

I have heard Butch play some awesome, wonderful music. These people who
are sharing their music in support of him are doing a great thing! Do
check this out, and give if you can.

That's a great bunch of acts you have there. I'd pay top dollar to see any one of them - but together - that's stellar lineup.

It makes me want to sneak in there and hook up a recorder to sound board. But it's a long drive from Texas.

We've sold a semi-respectable number of tickets, but there are still plenty left. Hint hint, to any Seattle-area 'Catters. ;)

Thanks again for refreshing!

Ticket sales have definitely perked up over the last few days! Yay!

I have a feeling a few people may also show up at the door, having waited to see what the unpredictable weather will do. We had an amazing concert last December--Randal Bays and Tony McManus, fer criminy's sake--and we only had about 30 people because it was the night of The Great Storm, and sane people were home with their candles. *grin* Hopefully we'll have fair weather for Saturday.

Cheers! Thanks again for keeping it on the page!

Molly

I'll keep it up on the page tomorrow and Saturday. I hope it's a sold-out event and that y'all rake in a pile of cash. Very best wishes for that to happen.

Quick note...despite the snow, the concert was almost sold out! They had over a hundred people (capacity is 110) and the show was terrific. Everyone simply raved about it. :)

What a great, supportive community. Have I mentioned I love my job?

Thanks to Peace for your faithful refreshing, and to everyone else for support!

Cheers,

Molly
