I'm new too. I've joined in a bit, but it takes a while to get the hang of it, 'specially when you're computer illiterate like I am. Ihope to chat lots more, and get to know people. Hwyl.

Welcome, John and Llanfair! You probably already know that you've gotten yourselves into the weirdest, warmest, most wonderful site on the web! Do yourselves a favor and go to the top of the Discussion Grp page, reset your filters for sometime in the past, and explore past threads- (warning, it can hold up your computer for awhile)- Welcome again! Allison

Great to hear about Mudcatters being able to answer any question, Sam. Here are a few...

1. What exactly IS the meaning of life?

2. What happened to Moby Dick after the book ended?

3. Is God Catholic?

4.Where do all my sunglasses go?

5.If you travelled to Mars at a speed faster than light would you be able to watch yourself arrive?

Just wondering...LEJ

LEJ

1. to make more life
2. Whale Burger King
3. No.
4. They are hiding iside the lost socks.
5. Yes, and you'd be able to go meet your plane and drive yourself home.

Anything else you wanna know??

Bert.

Glad to have you join us. These people are really nice about helping new people find their way around, I know, I'm still pretty new to this and only once did someone make me feel like a fool and I should have known better. They all have wonderful songs and ideas they love to share! bet

The answers:
1. 42 (see Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Universe).
2. Drowned!
3. God is an atheist!
4. There is a secret place where all the ballpens, keys, sunglasses ... go when you let them out of your reach for just one moment.
5. While speeding up to speed of light, your mass will increase infinitely, with it your own gravity force, so after some time Mars would land on you...

My daughter bought one of those see-through armchairs, and I'm starting to worry. You can see down the back where all the lost coins combs and what-nots go, and there's nothing there! There's a strange tension building up in the air, like just before a thunderstorm: I think the lost-coin fairy is holding her breath or something. Can anybody help before something busts?

Andreas.......it is well known that ballpoint pens, keys and sunglasses all disappear to pupate, and emerge as beautiful coathangers. Without wanting to seem picky, it's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the best version was on BBC radio. Hwyl, Bron.

Sorry about the Universe/Galaxy. It is some days (or years) since I last read it and I cited the title from memory (which fails every so often...)

Welcome! I first started playing with computers at the local library last June. It was frustrating. They almost took my card away I was locking up so much. They were really slow machines too. Anyway when I found that I loved the things I finally got into the computer age. You're probably finding yourself sitting there at dawn wondering where the night went or soon will be. Mudcat Cafe was one of the first places I found although I have only recently became a pest here. Enjoy. It's a fun site.

Pest? I don't think so, the 'Cat seems pretty pest-free to me. Certainly so, compared to some other places I visit.

Hi Mudcatters. Thanks for all the feed back, specially to Shambles for the ``Blue Clicky Thing´´and Mudcat World (it took me ages to read all that.)
Wow Mudcatters are unbeliveable! I wrote this thread hoping to get a few tips and contact with some of you.
I got not only that, but also an explanation on the meaning of life!Is there nothing a Mudcatter doesn't know? Thanks again.
John

I went back and re-read some of the HTML stuff thread, and I'm still not sure about it all. SO, I'm gonna try some stuff: Little Jack Horner sits in the corner
Extracting cube roots to infinity,
A task for all boys that will minimize noise,
And maintain a more peaceful vicinity.

The above, from "A Space Child's Mother Goose", is my attempt at putting in line breaks. I still have no idea how to do the blue clicky thing. Would someone help me with my clicky?

Margarita

Cool! The line breaks worked! Except I see I needed one at the beginning of the poem. I had no idea it was as simple as typing "
". Now how about the blue clicky? Margarita

higgledy-piggledy my black hen
She lays eggs in the relative when
She doesn't lay eggs in the positive now
Because she's unable to posutlate how

I'd tell you how to do the blue clicky thing, but I need a refresher myself in how to type the stuff so it is visible.

Margarita, put your arrow on anything highlighted in blue (or highlighted for that matter) and left click with your mouse. That's the blue clicky thingys. Enjoy

If you want to make a blue clicky thing you do this:

< a href=URL>CLICK HERE

Leave out the space before the first "a". The URL is the world-wide web address you wish to send people to (pardon my poor grammar). You can substitute anything for the "CLICK HERE". That will be the part that shows up in blue.

Welcome, welcome!

While we are on the subject of answering questions, here are a few truths for future reference:

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED
No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
When your mom is mad at your dad, don't let her brush your hair.
If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
Never ask your 3-year-old brother to hold a tomato.
You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
Puppies still have bad breath even after eating a tic tac.
Never hold a dust buster and a cat at the same time.
You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
----------

welcome to the world of Mudcatting... you will begin to feel the addiction, soon...

John, re:your post of 4 MAY at 1:59. You ask is ther anything a Mudcatter doesn't know? Yes, there are many things each of us does not know. But as you see in the three posts between Margarita, Tucker, and Roger in Baltimore (RiB), we all help each other in the learning process. Incidently, Margarita, RiB is spot on with his "blue clikie thingie" explanation except for one thing. You must close with the /A in the greater than/less than symbols (shift comma, reverse backslash, letter A, shift period) I don't yet know how to put that stuff on screen and make it show up! Maybe RiB can 'splain that to me!

So you see, John, the learning process and the willingness to help one another in our cyber community is always working! Welcome!
