Subject: RE: Recognise Anyone? From: Micca Date: 05 Dec 07 - 10:44 AM I don't think the Guitar accompaniment, clever tho' it was in itself, added ANYTHING to the song, but actually detracted from the feel and pathosof it |

Subject: RE: Recognise Anyone? From: Geordie-Peorgie Date: 05 Dec 07 - 02:34 PM In the Nic Jones photo - Is the bloke stackin' the chairs Gerry Adams?? |
Subject: RE: Recognise Anyone? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 06 Dec 07 - 05:36 PM From one of the comments attached to the clip : L to R you have Graham Hodge (aka my dad!), Alan Nelson (a musician and sometime folk radio DJ in York, UK), and of course the legendary Nic Jones. Glad you enjoyed it! That comment was posted (11 months ago) by one "CyberRuby" - so the question arises, is CyberRuby a Mudcatter? |
Subject: RE: Recognise Anyone? From: skipy Date: 06 Dec 07 - 05:43 PM I now know who the chap is, he uses mudcat for words but is not active on the site but he is a festival steward. Skipy |
Subject: RE: Recognise Anyone? From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Dec 07 - 07:16 PM Quite nicely done for the most part. One or two jarring harmonies, but mostly rather good. |
Subject: RE: Recognise Anyone? From: katlaughing Date: 06 Dec 07 - 07:46 PM Enjoyed both videos. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: YouTube: Recognise Anyone? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 25 Jan 08 - 07:43 PM Here's the YouTube profile page of the bloke with a guitar singing Sammy's Bar that skipy posted (05 Dec 07 - 10:00 AM). And he's a pretty good singer too. |
Subject: RE: YouTube: Recognise Anyone? From: Bill D Date: 25 Jan 08 - 07:58 PM it's MY subjective impression that the "Sammy's Bar" bit is about the performer, and not the song. |
Subject: RE: YouTube: Recognise Anyone? From: GUEST,DonMeixner Date: 25 Jan 08 - 09:07 PM I played an open mic on New Years Day which was videoed. I posted a few for a friend in Newport RT to see. Search Olderie on Youtube. Buffalo Gals came out the best. Don |
Subject: RE: YouTube: Recognise Anyone? From: Stewie Date: 25 Jan 08 - 10:11 PM I thought the 'Sally Free and Easy' clip was a totally underwhelming rendition. There's an audio only clip on Youtube of Tawney singing it. Sally. Barry Dransfield also does a lovely rendition on one of his solo albums. --Stewie. |
Subject: RE: YouTube: Recognise Anyone? From: katlaughing Date: 26 Jan 08 - 12:34 AM Gawd, I love that hearmony!!! (Whoops, how's that for a typo! Maybe I'll use it for a new word, hearing those harmonies!) |
Subject: RE: YouTube: Recognise Anyone? From: Nick Date: 26 Jan 08 - 04:30 AM Graham Hodge (on the left in the first video clip) is a guitarist and singer who has been playing for some decades and plays (used to play?) regularly at the Blue Bicycle in York as well as playing other things around the area. He has a web site here which fills in some of the background. He came to our local pub in Flaxton on a particularly busy night one Wednesday out of the blue along with Alan who is also in the video and sang and played and joined in with us - nice player and singer. |
