Subject: Lyr Add: MY HOME IN WOOLLOOMOOLOO From: allanwill Date: 30 Dec 07 - 01:41 AM This is more of interest to Ozcatters, however... I am transferring an old ABC concert of the Larrikins from tape to CD and I am 12 seconds over the 80 minute limit (with no pause). I decided to delete this little ditty, which I call MY HOME IN WOOLLOOMOOLOO I paid a franc to see a fair tattoed lady. And right across her jaw were the words "Great ANZAC Corp". And on her chest was a possum and a great big kangaroo. And on her back was a Union Jack and it was painted Red, White and Blue. A map of Germany was where I hadn't been. And up and down her hips were a line of battleships. And on her kidneys, and on her kidneys was a birdseye view of Sydney. And 'round the corner, 'round the corner was my home in Woolloomooloo. It obviously comes from one of the world wars and there may be something about the song on Warren Fahey's website (I haven't looked that closely). Hopefully I will fit it in on another CD somewhere but I figured, just in case I accidently delete it and it disappears into the internet ether, I would post the lyrics here for posterity. Allan |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: My Home in Woolloomooloo From: Charley Noble Date: 30 Dec 07 - 09:44 AM One of the rhyme pairs is missing in this verse: A map of Germany was where I hadn't been. And up and down her hips were a line of battleships. The way I've heard it was more like: A map of Germany was in a place I could not see, And up and down her hips were a line of battleships.
