From: Mr Happy
Date: 20 Jan 08 - 09:20 AM

The previous threadthread.cfm?threadid=90241#1708520
was getting a bit long, so details of this year's all-in freeforall music & song gathering in the Peaks will continue here.

Mrs Happy's extreme mountain marauders will be joining the melee of musicians, siners, & closet alcoholics for this season's Easter debacle.

The opposing teams so far consist of:

Siners & Musicians

Mr Happy: Melodeon, whistles, gob irons, guitar, kazoo, vocals
Mrs Happy: Fiddle, wooden spoons, shaky eggs [aaaaargh!]
Cindy: Mandolin,Bass recorder, banjo, guitar, vocals
Jim: Guitar, banjo, vocals
Wiggy: Quatro, banjo, vocals
Anna: Flute, guitar, recorder, vocals
Phil: guitar
Marilyn: Flute, guitar, vocals
MandoTim: Mandolin, guitar [& prob piles've other stuff we don't know about!], vocals
Banjo Ray: '& 'e played all night on the fiddle & the banjo!'
PMB [aka Mr Burke?] A cornucopia of musical delights to numerous to list, but including fiddle & flute, vocals?

Plodders up 'ill & down dale

Mrs Happy
Barbara & John
Diane & Tim
Sally

Hopefully, others who've joined us in previous years will be able to attend this time as well, such as Grab, John J, etc

Will you be gracing us with your presence again at the 3 Stags, John?

So if I'm suffering from the wind, I can knock on your door & say "I'm Uncle Cedric from Australia?"

My motorhome has central heating but as I only live 5 miles down the road it wouldn't feel like going away. Can you actually get caravans on the site next to the Stags? Yes its cold! Came back from the Cotswolds on Weds. and there was a sprinkling of snow about. As I said last year, just remember that the Peak District is on the same latitude as Siberia!

As i said last year, caravans can go on the hard standing at the garage/ cafe opposite,

The more hardy types've had caravans on the field during the last coupla years, but only little 2 berth ones.

If you're thinking of coming down the w/e from only 5m distant, you'd just as well kip in yr car on the field.

Are u muso/siner?

Hope u can pop in anyway

Parking the van in the car park opposite isn't my idea of fun. It would be more comfortable to bring the motorhome than kip in the car - the car doesn't have toilet, shower and running hot water, TV, DVD and cooking facilities - not to mention a fridge for the beer and a double bed. As for coming along, we tend to stay away from the Peak district on bank holidays 'cos its full of tourists. and being a muso/siner? - No, I play guitar and Mandolin!

I think it needs too much electric for that site - If I do I'll park it on my mates drive up the road in Wardlow. I'll think of you if I drive past over the weekend. If anyone is there on the Thursday, there's usually a session at the Manners in Bakewell.

Damn - didn't notice this when it first came up, else I would have put it in my diary. I'm seriously busy at the moment though - current commitments include practising with my band, looking for gigs for my band, mixing demos for my band and for another band, sound tech for a local singer-songwriter thing, publicity material and band-booking for a world music festival this summer, setting up websites for myself and for this festival, building foldback speakers, buying a house, and getting some hang-gliding in. Oh, and trying to spend a bit of time with Emma too. If you stuck a broom up my arse, I could probably sweep the floor as well. ;-/

So I'm afraid I won't make this one - I'll have to leave you to your sinning (and maybe even singing) this time. Any plans for another Stags meet in the summer?

Graham.

I suspect one with that kind of fitting is more likely to come from shops for, erm, "specialist" interests. The kind with blacked-out windows and signs saying "over 18 only". ;-)

Ironically Tim I just got one of the older Behringer feedback killers for a bit less than you outbid me for. So all's well that ends well. Although I'm a bit less sure about feedback-killing since I couldn't get my existing box to kick in at our band practise last weekend. (Memo to self - bring the sodding manual next time.)

Graham.

If it's spring cleaning you're about, you could try the guide to the Irish language: 'Brush up your Erse!'

Looking at the weather forecast, best wear the thermal undies; it could well be snowing up there! We're going to be day trippers rather than overnighters, but I guess we'll be there for most of the weekend.

Eek - it looks like over Easter, discretion will be the better part of not-getting-your-underpant-contents-frozen-off. I was hoping for a spot of hang-gliding over Easter, but it looks like we can safely abandon that idea. Ah well.

Good luck with the trip folks. You might need it... :-/

Weather update - the frost didn't arrive last night. I assume its saving it for the weekend.

P.S. why should the cold stop you hang gliding? I thought it was only fixed wings which suffered from icing?

what time will it be kicking off and where? Last I went, I was sat in the pub with three other morose buggers listening to the landlord going on about how slaveships weren't as bad as some people (the slaves... perhaps) made out. And all kind of merry making was going on in a nearby field, I later found out.
