Subject: Singing in Scotland From: WyoWoman Date: 09 May 99 - 09:06 PM I'm planning a trip to Scotland sometime in August or maybe September and would like to find out where some folks might be singing and making music. Anyone out there have any information? I'd like to ride my bike a bit, so I'm thinking August would be better weather for riding... KC |

Subject: RE: Singing in Scotland From: skw@worldmusic.de Date: 10 May 99 - 04:58 PM You might also try http://www.folkmusic.net/ ald look for The Living Tradition (excellent folk music mag!). I haven't visited yet but the paper issue carries folk club listings, so I think they must be there as well. If not, look out for the mag once you get to Scotland. It is published in Kilmarnock. - Susanne |
Subject: RE: Singing in Scotland From: Alex Date: 11 May 99 - 01:49 AM August in Scotland can be gloriously sunny and warm. However, I wouldn't count on it and if you are goin to be riding a bike, your chances of getting wet sometime in the week are high, esp. on the West coast. Take your waterproof gear. |
Subject: RE: Singing in Scotland From: GUEST,Jack McDonald Date: 09 Oct 01 - 07:38 AM I was in Scotland in August of 1999. In the town of Portree on Skye, the local people held a ceilidh on Saturday evening. I don't know if this was a special event or if they do it on a regular basis. It was very enjoyable. Anyway Portree is worth going to. I'll be going back some day. |
