sad news yet again di passed away in the early hours of this morning
whoever is in charge can they stop taking people i care about

Yes, Eileen rang us this morning. We heard that only just over a week ago a shadow was found on her lung and this looked to be inoperable. From then on it has all happened so quickly. She passed away in the early hours of this morning at Newcross Hospital, Wolverhampton. Hopefully she did not suffer too much.

We've been talking to Festival friends about her today...What everyone says is she was well known on the Midland Folk Festival circuit. She has always been a friendly smiling face, ever willing to help and still do more, last year she organised the stewards for Burntwood.

We will miss you, Di!

Right now, I've got Liz Carlile with me, who wants to add a few words about Di....

What a dreadful shock my friend Diane - who supported me thro my needs.I have known Diane as a good friend from 1998. She was a lovely lady and a true 'Folkie' thro and thro. Always more than willing to help anyone anytime. She gave me the courage to see into the future. My Peter - who I hope is with her somewhere, thought Diane was his 'Best Girl'. I will remember you Diane for your kind and loving ways. Liz.

We only heard yesterday that Diane was ill. It is such a shock that it has all ended so fast. We'll miss her.

what can you say about mom di? well she was loving, always giving advice and offering a listening ear but was a stubborn bugger who rarely took any! Be one of your faeries now but feel free to come and vist us whenever you like. we will miss you more than words can say we love you x x

Why is it Ron Jackson only calls me when this sort of thing happens? I'm stunned. Di and I always had a good laugh at fests. I'll miss her and her hat. Great lady.

Heard about the initial diagnosis but completely stunned on the developments. As one of the Burntwood stewards she always took pity on me and kept me busy!! One consolation is that she has some real good company for all those celestial fests.

di is being cremated on the 18 feb at Stafford crem tixal road Stafford st18 0xz at 2,30 followed by a farewell at church hill working men's club church hill hednesford ws12 1bq bar available also tea &coffee the buffet will be a jacobs join or faith buffet like col ks everybody bring food any probs contact Eileen Maurice or frank club will be open from approx 3.30

yes it is the same di who was chief steward at burntwood and stewarded at alcester warwick the edge bromyard upton and always wore a big leather hat and camouflage jacket

If I am right, though I hardly knew Dianne, we shared some moments in the rain over the butts bucket outside the main tent at Burntwood. I remember her big hat. We chatted, and she was complimentary. Our lives touched briefly. Like with many folks you meet on the circuit, I felt I knew her a little better than I actually did. Perhaps the familiarity of shared interests is the reason, perhaps there's more to it. I won't know now. Not as far as Dianne is concerned. Unless there is a butts bucket outside the Pearlies, perhaps then we might meet again, two unrepentant sinners together.

I hope her passing was not too painful or troublesome, and my condolences to her girls and other family and friends are from the heart.

I know we said after Col went that now they had the steward but did they REALLY need to take two such good ones in so short a time?
